  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Im not sure who won, but it is interesting to see Lambs platform that brought him so much support.

1. Pro Life
2. Support Second Amendment
3. Support American Steel industry
4. Distance yourself from Pelosi and DNC leadership.

Seems to be a winning combination.

Yes, it's a winning combination in a deep red district.

1. Pro Life
Pro life in the sense that he's opposed to further restrictions on abortion.

I thought Connor Lamb summed it up nicely. When they had just won the primary the grass roots workers were ready to go, just print something up so we can go out canvasing. Go with us or were going without you, they told he, Lamb responds, 'we went with them'.

His supporters simply outworked the competition. You seen something like that with Jones beating Moore:

First, he needed to energize his base. With a little help from recent Democratic wins in New Jersey and particularly Virginia, he ran an extraordinary voter turnout drive. Overall turnout, at approximately 40 percent, was remarkable for a special election. (Future Democratic candidates in red states would be well advised to take a page out of his playbook. Newsweek)
Moore was rocked with scandal and refused to even debate his opponent. Right now the Democrats are simply out working the Republican candidates. Even the progressives are honestly admitting they have to have candidates that can win and are starting to drift more to the center. A boilerplate platform isn't going to get the job done. Democrats need candidates that will respond to the needs of the voters. Don't try moving the party hard left, it would be a disaster, learn to convince the moderates who crowd the middle and 2018 will be a big success for the Democrats.

1. Pro Life

That's not exactly true. While he's personally against it, he supports the Supreme Court's decision and doesn't support a ban after 20 weeks.

2. Support Second Amendment

Again, not exactly true. He does support gun rights, but is for stronger background checks that most Republicans seem to oppose.

3. Support American Steel industry

If you mean the tariffs, it actually seems like quite a few democrats have support for those.

4. Distance yourself from Pelosi and DNC leadership.

That I'll give you.

He's also against attempts to repeal Obamacare and for environmental regulations.

It feels strange to say he won because of right-of-center positions when his opponent was even further to the right AND had Trump's open and enthusiastic support.

He is also a Marine veteran and a former prosecutor.

It's not exactly a new thing that Democrats who win in conservative districts (or states) tend to be more conservative than the average Democrat, or that Republicans who win in liberal districts (or states) tend to be more liberal than the average Republican.

He was also against the corporate tax cuts.

This is an interesting article:

It's not exactly a new thing that Democrats who win in conservative districts (or states) tend to be more conservative than the average Democrat, or that Republicans who win in liberal districts (or states) tend to be more liberal than the average Republican.
I remember when Evan Bayh was Governor he was constantly being accused or praised for being more conservative the Indiana Republicans. Regan couldn't have done nearly as much if not for Regan Democrats. There's just a lot more moderates out there then most people realize, who will shift in the position as the issues change.
