From the subject article:
cleared of wrongdoing apparently on the basis of questionable body-camera footage and an allegedly inconclusive autopsy. (opinionated statement)
the deadly tactics that police often deploy against Black people. (opinionated statement)
“Whatever the report says, it’s clear that if the police had not attacked Elijah McClain, he would be alive today.” (opinionated statement)
We are disappointed, but not surprised that once again, members of law enforcement will not [be] held criminally accountable for killing an unarmed Black man.” (opinionated statement)
Arnett believes that, in addition to helping manage a chronic chill that McClain attributed to his anemia, wearing a mask helped him manage his social anxiety. “He would hide behind that mask,” Arnett said. “It was protection for him, too. It made him more comfortable being in the outside world.”( had a ski mask on in August)
“The decedent was violently struggling with officers who were attempting to restrain him,” (resisting) “therapeutic” amount of ketamine to sedate him, while officers held him down.(resisting)

Sure, going to the shop and wearing a mask are perfectly adequate reasons to be killed by the state.

didn't have to happen all he had to do was stop and talk to the police, all he had to do was not attack the police officer, lets not forget what caused the problem.

'Attack' the police officer, well that word has certainly been stretched beyond any reasonable interpretation. According to the article, the kid was walking home, listening to music. Does he look like a threat to you? Several cops surrounded him close to his home and by any stretch of the imagination, they were the aggressors. In anything but the most extreme police state, citizens have the right be be treated like humans unless there is a very good reason for the cops to pile on an unarmed civilian and choke him to death.

only problem with your account is it is not what the facts are.

That is a very nice article and says nice things about him, I have no doubt that his friends and family think highly of him. As I previously said all he had to do was stop and talk to the officer but he was unwilling to do that and resisted officers.

What makes you think you know what happened? Even if your version if events were true, how does that conceivably justify how he was treated?

From the facts available he was treated fairly.

What facts are those, and how have you verified them? Being choked, slammed on the ground and injected with ketamine is 'fair treatment'? This guy was - was, before he was killed - 70kg wet, a mild-mannered kid who suffered from anxiety. It takes that to subdue him? He needed to be 'subdued' for - what exactly? Nothing at all had happened, there was no crime committed by anyone. Someone called the cops because they thought someone looked 'suspicious' - the cops turn up and kill some young kid who had gone to the shops for a bottle of ice tea. Your concept of fair is decidedly unconvincing.

why did he simply not just stop and talk to the police. He decided what was going to happen. He had to know that if he did not stop he would be restrained and when he was he decided to resist, all of these decisions were his to make. The officers had no desire to hurt him, he dictated their actions.

That only highlights what is wrong with policing in your country - it is acceptable for cops to act like mafia thugs, and they even have apologists to explain away their behaviour.

it would not make a difference what I did nor did not provide
So...that would be a "No, I can't actually provide a list of the drugs I claimed he was on."?

you have no desire to think of this event beyond what you have voiced.
The irony in this post? It's pretty amazing. :sorry:
tulc(wonders if the guy who called 911 knew he was going to get Elijah killed because he didn't like people wearing ski masks?) :sigh:

uhmmm...swarming, choking, threatening with dogs, handcuffing and drugging someone seems an odd definition of "no desire to hurt someone". :sigh:

The police do the job professionally. It is absolutely ridiculous to make a broad condemnation of them based on a very few events.

They responded to his actions, the actions he had no reason to initiate.

If you remember he wasn't the one who initiated anything. He just went to the store and was walking home, when the police initiated a confrontation. It was the police who grabbed him, it was the police who choked him and it was the police who called for someone to come drug him. All of that was started by the police, not him. And in the end, it was the police who went home, and he was the one who ended up brain dead in the back of an ambulance. Spin it how you like, blame the victim all you want, in the end, they killed that man. :sigh:

There is a reason the report has not been released to the public yet, you will just have to wait.

Do not change the facts. He was told to stop he continued going, he resisted to such an extent that he had to be sedated and ultimately suffered cardiac arrest twice do to excessive exertion. Those are facts not emotion.
