What Really Happened to CF...Really.

"That's what I've been trying to say, if anyone would listen to me," I said exasperatedly. "No telling what kind of people there are out there. We need to be careful. Now, Let's go, please."

We began the journey slowly. It was hard going in the dark, but it wasn't worth waiting until morning, since we'd likely be tired then and we weren't tired now. About eight miles out, we stopped for our first real meal. I couldn't even try to make a guess at the time.
"Here, Raleigh." I said as he took down his bundle. "A bit of dried meat. I'd say try to cook it, but there's no telling if we could find wood around here, and if we went to look, we might not find the way back."
"Eh, it's okay," Raleigh said as he took the meat. "I like jerky."
"Jerky?" I asked.
"Uh, it's what I call dried meat."
"Ah, okay. Well, I'm pretty sure that this is all plains and grasslands from here to that city, so we probably couldn't find wood even if it were day." I went on to nibble a bit of my own "jerky." "I suspect," I said, mouth full, "That we probably have about five more miles. We may make it there by sunrise."

"If there even is a sunrise," Slowdown said as he took a bite out of yet another kibble bar, "But I think you might be right about the distance, I used to know the land a lot better, but after I hadn't been travlin' for a while I seemed to have forgotten it," he took a deep breath and started again, "So what are we gonna do once we get there? I'm pretty sure we'll stock up on supplies and what not, but does anyone know anyone there? I mean, I know I want to learn about the Spidrax, but how?" then he looked at Sidrick, him being the leader and all.

Suddenly and quite unexpectedly a bright blue blob the size of a volleyball suddenly popped into existence right in the middle of the small group of travellers. After falling to the ground with a small squishing sound, the blob rolled over and a pair of bright green eyes could be seen on the figure. The eyes seemed to move as they took in their surroundings.

Now a voice popped into each traveller's head, "Oh! I am terribly sorry! I was just messing around with my kinetic space-time warp machine when my rascally little brother jammed all the buttons at once and then threw me into it! You will not believe how terribly relieved I am that I didn't end up stuck in a wall or worse yet, a mile underground. Ah, but what do you care about that? I suppose you're all wondering who I am. Well, I'm Veloroop, and that's all you'll need to know about me for now. But now that I'm here, where is here anyways? Well, now that I'm here I don't suppose you are all going anywhere in particular? I need to get back to VROOM before my brother messes anythign else up. Do any of you know where that is? Oh, I suppose not. But perhaps you do. In that case I should very much like you tell me. But then, I've been searching your thoughts and it seems none of you know how to mind-talk, which is rather an obstacle for me as I have no auditory recieving organs and would be much at a loss if you should try to speak the information I inquire after. So, you will have to think of the information in order for me to read it off you, I suppose."

As Veloroop continued to distract his prey, he began to feast wildly on the thoughts and ideas of those around him. It had been years since he had had such a good meal. Just a few more minutes and he would have enough energy to completely demolecularize them. Hopefully they were buying this story he was weaving for them. Ha! A brother! As if!

"What the heck are you!" Slowdown said in shock as blue energy realeased from his hands and surrounded Veloroop, slowing him down, "Uhhh, anyone know about this whatever you call it?" he said to his companions, keeping the energy waves constant.

Caresse felt extremely foolish. When the thing had dropped into the middle of their group and had begun "talking" she had screamed and run to hide behind the nearest bush. What was she thinking? If these men were going to allow her to travel with them she would need to put on a tough face and stop acting so girlish. So many strange things were going on though. If only Noitmi were around...he always seemed to know what to do.

Caresse sat behind the bush watching the group for some time and attempting to regain her poise and allow time for the blush to vanish from her cheeks when she realized it was dark and they couldn't see them anyway. She rose and approached the group, formulating her excuse as she drew closer. "My apologies for being so abrupt. You know..." she stopped short and stared blankly at the thing that had caused her to leave in the first place, eerily lit by fire and moonlight.

"It's nothing to be ashamed of, but now I should have him under wraps, he won't be able to do anything at his speed," Slowdown said, trying to ease his companions, "Now, don't touch the blue energy guys, it'll slow you down to," he then said louder, so there was no mistake.

For one of the few times in our journey, I believe that Raleigh and I had the same though at the same time. It consisted of something along the lines of: Wha...?
I don't know whether or not the creature knew exactly what it had done, seeing that it had revealed its entire plan to us by thinking about them. It seemed that even though he could read our thoughts, he had no control of when his thoughts were being sent to other people. As such, his thoughts seemably always went out to anyone near him. Pity, I'm certain he meant to be evil, just that fate seemed to rally against him. I almost felt sorry for him. Well...no, not really.
"So, uh," Raleigh began, "What are we going to do with him?"
"Anyone know how to put him a mile underground?" I opined.
Raleigh then did something that made me very proud. He was devious. He even smiled deviously, "No, keep him. Maybe we could feed him to the Spidrax."

Veloroop's eyes tried to dart from person to person, but he found that they could only go terribly slowly. Luckily, his thoughts were still fast enough to read, perhaps not feed on though, his company's thoughts, "Spridrax? What is that? And why would you feed it to me!"

Once again Veloroop thoughts to himself were broadcasted for those nearby to hear, I've failed again! Master just wanted me to prove myself, and I've failed again! Every time he tells me to do something I fail him! Why can't I be evil like him! Why can't I write long pieces of devastating computer code that can crush the world? Why can't I just do somethign right for a change? I'm worthless. I'm completely worthless.

Worthless? I might just have too agree, unless you can get us some information and stor reading us like a book. I can slow you down quite a bit more, and I'm not sure if you breath or not, but if you do, it'll kill you. Slowdown thought, not quit bluffing, but he had never done such a thing before, "ALright, since he can't hear, what are we gonna do with him? How are we gonna get him to stop reading us?" Slowdown said aloud, trying not to think about his words, more focused on what he had just thought to the creature.

Zack had trailed the small party, not caring if they saw him or not, just curious about where they were going and having nothing better to do. He was quite surprised when some sort of blue blobbish thing fell out of the sky and started talking mindspeech. Unfortunately for the blue thing, it also told him that it wanted to be evil but could never succeed in typing out long destroying computer code, whatever that was. Taking out his lightsaber, he tapped a button and a green, glowing blade popped out, slowly, he advanced, not sure what to do, but not wanted to be completely defenceless. Rethinking slightly, he turned a knob on the handle, and toned the blade down to only make a sharp shock, hard enough to knock someone out when it hit.

(((With great power comes great responcibility...)))

I was about to say something, but I never got the chance. I can't exactly tell you the next part, so I'll have to rely on what Raleigh has told me.

Everything froze. Raleigh looked around, calling each of us by name. Finally, he said, "Slowdown, are you doing this?"
No response.
That was when it happened. The first to change was the sky. Still in its unnatural night, it began to glow a dull, crimson red. The lower moon began to melt until it had vanished. The upper moon move strangely until it was only a slightly brighter crimson. Next came the land. It began to rumble and boil, creating an odd steam with an awful stench. Raleigh noticed it the pale red light that trees were forming from the steam, great and as twisty as the vapors themselves. The ground became a greyish-mottled stone, but somewhat spongy and springy. The gentle hills were replaced by crags and the mountains on the horizon simply vanished.
Finally we changed. For a moment we began to wave, like trees in an unknown wind. As the wind grew, our forms looked more like failing candles. We flicked momentarily, and died out. Raleigh was alone, but only for a second. Again like a candle, the places where we stood flickered for a moment, then sprang anew like a hungry flame.
Raleigh took in all the details nearly panicking the whole time, but when our forms sprang again, he nearly went faint. As he shivered fearfully, time began again. The wind started the dance, followed by gravity as it pulled our limp forms to the ground.
Even though he was in a panic, he rushed over to me and checked my pulse. It was fortunate that I had one in that form. Finding that I was still alive, he assumed the others would also be. He quietly surveyed his surroundings, but his head was in such a muddle that he did not make anything of it. He slumped against a nearby tree. His cellphone rang again, but he was so confused that he didn't bother to answer it. He merely sat there.
Ok, I'll grant you that maybe I embelished the facts somewhat, but let's face it; Raleigh is not a storyteller. Not just not a good storyteller; he is not any kind of storyteller. Ever.

(((Ok, remember, everything changes except their memories, unless you so decide to change that too. You can make it whatever you'd like.)))

((Ok, :) ))
Looking around in confusion at all the stuff happening, he felt wavery, then fell to the ground unconcious. When he regained conciousness, he looked at his hand... interesting, it had three claws on it. He then looked at his other hand, interesting, also three claws, pretty long sharp ones too. Looking down at the rest of him, he finally realized what he was. "This is getting weirder by the second!" the dragon moaned, giving his wings an expiramental flap. Turning to a tree that had sprung up behind him, he tested out his flame, and lit fire to it. Realizing his mistake, he quickly beat it out with his wings before it could do anything else. He wasn't a big dragon, actually at the shoulders he was only up to a human's ribs, but he was plenty fearsome enough. Making a short hop, he leaped into flight, and made a few spirals before coming down and landing next to Raleigh. He looked around at the other unconcious forms, and muttered, "I hope they don't change too drastically. This is already too much for me, what IS this thing we are fighting anyways? What if it turns me into an inchworm when I'm trying to fight it?"

(((So, a standerd european dragon shape?)))
Raleigh jumped back as a dragon landed a few feet from him. He had seen pictures of dragons, he had even played dragons in forum role-playing-games, but to actually see one in person, it was more than he could imagine. He stood, staring at it. Then it spoke, apparently to him.
"Change? Well, look at them, they used to be...well, they never were exactly normal, but now they aren't even themselves. Who are you, exactly? I take it you're friendly, as you haven't eaten any of us."

As Veloroop slowly came to again, he stretched. Wait, I stretched? Veloroop looked over his body and saw that he actually had a body now. He could see hands and feet and legs and arms! Wait, no. They were bones! I'm a skeleton?!

As the realization finally settled in, a very bony grin spread across Veloroop's face, I can finally be truly evil in this form! I will please my master! As Veloroop looked around at the others, he realized that not only was his body in better condition to be evil, but his thoughts were no longer broadcasted live for the world to hear. Yes! Finally!

Veloroop scanned the area quickly for his first victims. He spotted the large dragon and Raleigh speaking. They will be the first to taste death from the great Veloroop! With a migthy roar, Veloroop charged Raleigh. Pulling his hands back, Veloroop prepared to completely clobber and destroy the human.

To his astonishment, Veloroop soon found himself on the ground on the other side of Raleigh. He had charged right through the man! Making another run, Veloroop found that he had charged through the man's body again! This was when Veloroop made a sad discovery. He was a ghost as well; a ghost that could neither touch nor affect anything around him!

Veloroop sat down on the hot, steamy ground and began to cry, or at least as close to crying as a skeleton can get, silently to himself. His plots had once again failed.

I first heard a voice say "I don't know. It just happened." I recognised the voice of Raleigh.
But wow, my head hurt. I pushed myself up and mumbled, "What just happened? And did it involve something hitting me?"
The first thing I noticed was my voice; it was much deeper than before. When I blinkingly opened my eyes, I noticed my second thing: my height. Normally, when I was standing, I was about Raleigh's waist. Now, on my hands and knees, I was higher.
I looked at my hands, which were covered in a coarse grey hair, nothing like my golden silky hair of my Botan form. It covered me completely. Also, the clothing I was wearing was gone, replaced by a sort of cloak type thingy.
"What?" I said, and it pretty much summed up what I was feeling.
"No one knows," Raleigh said as I stood to my feet. It was odd having to look down at everyone. He continuted, "It just, well, happened."
I was going to ask him for the details, but a strange sound came from his pocket. Instead, I asked, "What was that?"
"Oh, my cell phone. That beep means I have a message." He pulled out the small devise again, but I didn't understand how it could have some sort of message. Before I could ask, he said, "I'll put it on speaker mode."
"On wha--"
Imagine my surprise when the box began speaking. "Raleigh," it began, "What you have just witnessed was the Spidrax in action. As you can now see, the Spidrax has the power to change everything and anything. Look around, the world is now nothing as it was. Even your friends are changed.
"Now, listen carefully to me: Continue on to the south. The town to which you were headed is in the same location, though it is nothing your friends will remember it to be. It will be a bit more difficult due to the mountains. There I will contact you again, as I have something which will help you.
"Oh, and on last thing, there is a lot of geo--"
A burst of steam shot out of a crag nearby, diverting attention and preventing us from hearing what the box said.
"--ound where you are, so do try to hurry before something happens."
"End of voicemail," said a different voice.
"How does it do that?" I asked.
Raleigh smiled strangely, "No one really knows that either."
"Hey," I said, "Why didn't you change?"
Raleigh was getting upset, I could tell, "I don't know, Sidrick. I don't know much of anything of what is happening around here. It's happening, that's all I know."
He held the cell phone at me, "This guy who keeps calling me; he seems to know what's going on. Maybe we should do what he says."
A hushed silence fell over the group.

Still wallowing in his grief, Veloroop pulled himself together enough to at least listen to the man over the cell phone. He had seen one of those strange boxes before, but where and when he couldn't remember. He decided it wasn't important.

As he made his way to the group, Veloroop held up his hands, "I give up. I'm never going to be evil. Look at me! I can't even run into someone!" Looking back over himself, Veloroop realized that as the wind blew, his body would flicker and distort with it, as if he were some sort of thick haze that would never actually seperate, but always threaten to.
