(((I'd prefer you play a non-real-world-esque character, Raptureman. It'll open up so much more potential. And remember, there is no real set "age". Technology can be very sparatic; I mean, someone could have a laser gun, but maybe no one has ever heard of toasters. Oh, and one last thing: You don't have to post in first person. Normally, I don't, but I felt like I needed some sort of narrator-type character. Anyway, on with the posting...)))
Raleigh watched carefully as the bird slowed to a mere crawl. He could easily see each wing flap. He seemed pretty impressed, but it was nothing new to me. Time control was a cheasy parlor trick as far as I was concerned.
"That's quite a skill, Mr. Slowdown," Raleigh said with awe in his voice. "As I was going to say, I don't really know much about Spidrax, except that it's some kind of computer code."
Well, this caught my attention. "Really?" I said, "Where is this country, uh, Computer? and what sort of beast is a code? Is it like a dragon? or maybe a giant? Are there lots of codes in Computer?"
"No," Raleigh said shaking his head. It was something he would do a lot during our travels. "Don't you know what a computer is?"
I cocked my head a bit, "Uh, is the Spidrax one of them?"
"No," he replied, again shaking his head. "Just, nevermind. Obviously, I don't really know what Spidrax is."
In truth, I thought his joke was terribly funny. "That wasn't funny," I said, "Lots of folk have been hurt by this Spidrax thing. Well, anyway, Slowdown, Raleighhochberg and I have to get some sleep. We plan on heading back out into the world again, starting tomorrow. Come on, Raleighhochberg."
I pulled on his arm and began to lead him away to the far side of my small fire. As we walked I whispered to him, "Humans do sleep, right?"
"Yes," he whispered, "and please, just call me Raleigh."
"Is that a nickname?"
"Sort of."
