What Really Happened to CF...Really.

(((Certainly. Come on and get in the boat.)))

Raleigh and I both backed away. "Listen," I said, "We're not looking for any trouble, and I'm sure we can avoid this somehow..."
"Not a chance, shorty," said a white, bearded giant about as tall as myself. He threw an empty, wooden crate at us.
Raleigh just screamed as I caught the crate. "All right," I replied, "but I did warn you."
I grabbed the giant's beard and pulled for all I was worth. He roared, falling to the ground. I was amased at the strength of this body, as I found myself holding a cluster of hair. Tossing it back to it's owner, I grabbed a couple of others and just held them in the air. "You really need better manners."
Raleigh told me that one of the smaller members of the group grabbed my leg at the time and hit me with some sort of electric shock. I don't know what happened as I toppled over onto a couple of others.
Raleigh, however, chose this time to take action. He ran in and tackeld the one that shocked me, knocking him cold. "All right," Raleigh said, but then added, "Aahh," as the two I had been holding tackled him.

As Veloroop continued to watch the fray, he began to get a slight headache. Then he realized that when he looked at a guy for a long time, he stopped moving. That's strange...

With another look, Veloroop stopped a man dead in his tracks. Even stranger...

"AAH!"

Veloroop turned to see that Raleigh had been tackled, and the large Yeti had been shocked or something. Veloroop suddenly wished that the two men on top of Raleigh weren't there anymore. That's when the biggest surprise yet came. Suddenly, the two men were floating in the air. Veloroop's headache grew worse however, so he mentally wished to throw the two men aside. They were thrown aside. As Veloroop let his concentration slip, his headache began to receed slowly. He began to wonder what all this meant.

Jane walked down the sidewalk determinedly. Her head felt fuzzy, she thought, where am I going? Brown Bag Inn suddenly came to her mind. But why am I going there? she thought? I work there as a desk clerk, her mind seemed to say. She wondered how she knew all this when suddenly she rounded the corner and there it was- the Brown Bag Inn. She walked to the door and went inside...

Erwin was sitting in that inn minding his own business and eating an apple pie. He looked up and saw this girl walk in. He felt that the girl looked familiar, but decided to finish his meat pie. After finishing the pie, he walked out of the inn, to return to his day job... not to be seen again for a while.

((Welcome, Tamlis! Haven't ever seen you before! Hope to have a great time with you!))

((Hey, look! It's Erwin! I've never been able to talk to you much, and you might never read this thread again... but I just want to say how much I love this place! What you've done here is incredible. If I had a job and a credit card, I'd definitely be supporting this site as much as I could. I think this place is wonderful. If there's anyway I can ever help, don't be afraid to call on me!))

((Ok, stepping down now.))

(((Well, like I said, he kinda has the right to play his own character. Thanks for the stop-by, big guy, and kudos to what you've done here. I think God is pleased with it. Keep up the good work.
Oh, and, I know it shouldn't be second-fiddle, but welcome Tamlis. I hope you have fun.)))

Raleigh was surprised to see the two men who had tackled him, and pinned him to the ground, and were about to cut his throat, suddenly, for lack of a better way to describe it, over there. He stood quickly and picked up the weapon that one of them had been holding. Still, he could not help but wonder how it had happened.
"Slowdown?" he said, looking in that direction, but he had his own problems. And, "No, that's right. He isn't Slowdown. He's Jakel, or Jakey, or something. Ee, I sound like Sidrick."
Now, I know I don't sound like that, but, that's what he says he said. Regardless, he stood there looking about for a few seconds before he remembered where he was.
It was the same little man who shocked me that brought him back to the moment. That cretin was wrestling with Caresse, trying to do the same thing, but she had caught his arms and was doing well to keep them from her Raleigh rushed over with the weapon in hand. He grabbed one arm and slashed through a couple of wires on the shocking device. Before he could do anything else, a man landed on him, knocking the weapon out of his hands and down a ravine.
Now, the weapon itself was an interesting one. It was a staight blade, but it somehow had the power to cut completely perpendicular to the direction the blade traveled. In simple terms, if you swing left to right, it will cut up and down. I mention this because the part of this town we were fighting in was actually suspended over the ravine by support beams and suspension cables. I also told you that when the man landed on Raleigh, he knock the blade over the ravine.
You may have figured the significants by now, but if not, I'll tell you. As the weapon fell, the blade hit against several of the support beams. Now,a few nicks along the length of those beams wouldn't have been anything to worry about, but because it was this weapon, the nicks went clean through the thick of the beam.
So to review: Raleigh helps Caresse; man lands on Raleigh; Raleigh drops weapon; support beams get cut; that section of town begins to collapse. Above all, I was still unconscious.
Luckily, the support cables were enough to hold the weight. At least, for a little while.
Raleigh and the man fell apart after the first shock. The creaking of the cables struck a nerve in every living being, and even in a few non-living ones. The fight came to an uneasy and awkward pause as the platform began to teeter slightly. A few uneasy groans and one or two screams occored before the groaning of the cables hushed everyone.
"No one move," one of the attackers said. Raleigh did as was asked. HOw this would end, he could not know, but it did not look promising.

"Well this is odd......." Jakal said, then slightly shifted his weight, the platform creaked, "Hmmm, that's not gonna work. Jakal looked around, searching for some kind of machine to help, his eye scanners rapidly looked around, finding nothing that would be any help at all. "Oh well, hope this goes well fo the rest of you," Jakal jumped of the plat form, a wire shot from his wirst, grappling Raleigh and pulling him up with him....

(((OK, let me get a drink. Something cold and sugary...)))

Raleigh screamed as something cold and sharp snatched onto his clothing and yanked him into the air. He and Jakal landed on the same taxi platform that they had begun this whole ordeal.
"What about the others?" Raleigh said frantically.
Now, in my defence, the cables were snapping and fraying by the second, and they were not about to hold on much longer anyway. Thus, when I came around, sat up, rubbed my head, and said, "What happen to the fighting?" as I jumped to my feet, it was merely the inevitable that caused the first cable to snap.
I soon realized the danger. "Not a happy place," I shouted.
"Sidrick!" Raleigh screamed from the taxi platform.
With a great heave, thanks to my new-found height, I leapt off the hanging outcropping and onto the main part of the city.
It was a good thing I did too, for no sooner did I jump than the second cord broke. Our assailents were yelling things at me which I won't repeat for the delicate ears, but now with two of the support cords gone, it wasn't long before three, four, five; they were all starting to break now. It wasn't long before the entire section of the city fell away into the gulch.
I looked at Raleigh relieved, "Well, it looks like we made it through that okay."
Raleigh looked worried as he said, "I don't think we all made it, Sidrick."

The noise was nearly unbearable, but the sheer oddness was even worse. As the great platform ripped and pulled away from the main city, Veloroop found himself in a free fall. Things flew everywhere, and many passed through Veloroop's body; but Veloroop remained unharmed. He still did not understand why no object had any effect on him except the ground.

Veloroop did not like this feeling of falling but never stopping. He suddenly wished the thing were not falling as he looked down at a small section of sheet metal he was standing on. No sooner had he wished this than he had stopped falling, along with the piece of sheet metal he was standing on. Veloroop looked down, only to watch the rest of the platform continue to fall into oblivion.

Shocked, surprised, rattled even, Veloroop suddenly found that the headache was returning. He thought he knew the problem now, and wanted to get it over with as soon as possible. Veloroop looked to the sky above and thought about flying up with the piece of sheetmetal. It worked. The headache worsened, but he was now flying upward. Soon he came to the level of the main city where Sidrick and the others were standing. Ah, this is where I leave my headache behind. Using the last of his thinking power, Veloroop telepathically moved the sheet metal and himself over the main floor before collapsing in front of everyone.

Jack acted as fast as possible, grabbing the remaining member of the party in his lethal talons, he carefully adjusted her, then punished his new wings in a mad upward flight carrying his burden. Now this might not be much of something for your type of dragon, but he being about as tall as a man's shoulder, it was a herioc feat. Collapsing finally on the taxi part, he promptly fainted dead-away from exhaustion.
((Sorry it's hurried, I gotta run!))

"Taxi," Sidrick said, "Get back on course. We need to get to that inn and try to keep out of sight. "I do believe that is everyone now, Raleigh."
"Seems that way, I guess."
We rode on peacefully until we reached the inn. Raleigh put the bill on the inn tab. Once there, we found it wasn't anything much. I began to wonder about this guy giving us our instructions, but I guessed it would do.
Raleigh walked up to the front desk. "Uh, reservation for Raleigh."
One of the men behind the desk looked through some of the books, then said, "Yes, here it is. Party of seven,"
"Seven?" I asked. "Try again, there are only six of us."
The man looked at the book again before saying, "No, it clearly says seven: Raleigh, Sidrick, Jakal, Jack the dragon, Veloroop, Caresse, and Jane."
"We don't have any Jane," Raleigh said calmly.
"Well, the rooms were paid for on the basis of seven. If you find this Jane, that's your business. Your rooms are down this hall, thirty-one through three. Here are your keys."
Raleigh took the keys and said, "Well, that's two of us per room."
"I'm with you, Raleigh," I said quickly. I didn't trust any of these others.
"Raleigh?" The same man said. "Are you Raleigh?"
"Uh," Raleigh said diplomatically, "Yes."
"There is a package for you. Sign this."
The man slid a paper and pen across the desk and went to retrieve the package. Raleigh signed the paper after quickly glancing over it. "Who would have sent me a package?"
"Kris Kringle, maybe?" I said whimsically.
"No, it was an Ishmael," the man said returning with the package. After checking the papers, he handed the brown box to Raleigh. He looked at it, then at me, then at the others. "Better open it in the rooms."
Raleigh handed one key to Jakal and another to Jack, since Veloroop couldn't hold anything, and Caresse was, well, not in the mood, let's say.
As we were going, Raleigh tugged on my arm and said, "I wonder who this Jane is?"

Jack winked at Veleroop, "Want to room with me?"he asked the un-material being. Letting him decide for himself, the dragon jauntily strode down the hall to his key's number, and taking the key between two of his claws, inserted it into the lock, and turned. The door fell open, and he walked in.
((I guess I will let you decide what the surroundings are like, not sure if it should be normal, futuristic, a combination, or what...))

(((I hope it isn't too late, but I wish to join. It seems kind of interesting, it sounds kind of similar to the CB Chronicles a friend of mine and I wrote....Except, Demons took over CF while we were banned instead :p I'll try to think up a character. So, are we ina computer world, or....?)))

(((Sure, come on in. Though, I can't promise that this is anywhere near alive.
Uh, so yes, basically, we are in another dimention mysteriously connected to the internet. Not exactly a computer world, but, in essence, yeah. And the beings in that world don't know anything about it. Only things from the real world (generally) stay the same when the shift happens. Some other things may stay the same, but with as many things there are on the internet: lot of possibility.)))

Raleigh looked up at me. "I guess Caresse should get her own room, since she seems to be the only girl in our group."
"I'm rooming with you, Raleigh. I'm not taking my chances with any of these other mooks."
"Fine by me. Caresse," Raleigh tossed the last key to her. "I guess we should find out what is in this box."
We went into the room together, and Raleigh carefully opened the package. Inside was nothing more than an odd pair of gloves with a label tag.
"What are they?" I asked.
"'Zeus gauntlets:'" he read, "'Neuro-active gloves that can emit electrical shocks for defencive or offencive purposes.' I guess they are a weapon of sorts."
"Well, that makes me feel a little safer. What now?"
"Look, there's a note here too. Uh, 'Raleigh, head southeast. There you will find an old hag who can tell you more about Spidrax. Get a good night's rest, and begin in the morning.' Well, Sidrick, there you have it."
"Yeah. I don't like it, Raleigh. What if all this is a clever trick? Suppose some one has been following us? I mean, how does this guy know all about us?"
"Same way he knows my cellphone number, I guess. Look, Sidrick, do you have any better plans?"
I hate to admit it, but I didn't. To be honest, I had no answers at all. The changes, the mutations, all of it. I had absolutely no answers. I just wished this Ishmael guy would cut it out with the riddles.
