What Really Happened to CF...Really.

(((I'd prefer you play a non-real-world-esque character, Raptureman. It'll open up so much more potential. And remember, there is no real set "age". Technology can be very sparatic; I mean, someone could have a laser gun, but maybe no one has ever heard of toasters. Oh, and one last thing: You don't have to post in first person. Normally, I don't, but I felt like I needed some sort of narrator-type character. Anyway, on with the posting...)))

Raleigh watched carefully as the bird slowed to a mere crawl. He could easily see each wing flap. He seemed pretty impressed, but it was nothing new to me. Time control was a cheasy parlor trick as far as I was concerned.
"That's quite a skill, Mr. Slowdown," Raleigh said with awe in his voice. "As I was going to say, I don't really know much about Spidrax, except that it's some kind of computer code."
Well, this caught my attention. "Really?" I said, "Where is this country, uh, Computer? and what sort of beast is a code? Is it like a dragon? or maybe a giant? Are there lots of codes in Computer?"
"No," Raleigh said shaking his head. It was something he would do a lot during our travels. "Don't you know what a computer is?"
I cocked my head a bit, "Uh, is the Spidrax one of them?"
"No," he replied, again shaking his head. "Just, nevermind. Obviously, I don't really know what Spidrax is."
In truth, I thought his joke was terribly funny. "That wasn't funny," I said, "Lots of folk have been hurt by this Spidrax thing. Well, anyway, Slowdown, Raleighhochberg and I have to get some sleep. We plan on heading back out into the world again, starting tomorrow. Come on, Raleighhochberg."
I pulled on his arm and began to lead him away to the far side of my small fire. As we walked I whispered to him, "Humans do sleep, right?"
"Yes," he whispered, "and please, just call me Raleigh."
"Is that a nickname?"
"Sort of."

Close by at a small, private campfire sat a lone hooded figure. The figure listened intently as the men spoke. It sounded promising. None of them mentioned a destination, that would be perfect. If there was no destination there was no possibility of the destination being overheard. If the destination wasn’t overheard then no one could inquire from anyone where they were heading. Perfect.

Fully convinced in favor of the course the hooded figured decided to get a little sleep, until they men were ready to take off the next day.

I had no interest in another companion, but Raleigh's voice stopped me. "He has a point, Sidrick. I mean, we might do to have someone who can slow down time like that."
"Well, maybe," I said. "All right, Slowdown, you can come, but you'd better not get in the way, all right?"
I gathered an extra blanket for Raleigh and threw it to him. "It can get pretty cold at night, so you may need this."
"Thanks," he said as he sat near the fire.

"Thanks, that was might more kind then I took ye' for," Slowdown replied with a grin, "and me? Getting in the way? Wh't'v'r gave ye' th't idea?" He unwrapped a sleeping bag that had been in his backpack, "I suppose we should take watches, I volenteer to take first, unless one of you too wants too," Slowdown finished his hands behind his head.

((*blinks* We have the same birthday Presing_On! That's hilarious, anyhow, may as well jump in.))
Zack walked closer to the fire, laser sword out and ready to be flipped on at the slightest movement. Cautiously, the white-cloaked figure got closer two it, then noticing only the usual refugees, he breathed a slight sigh of relief, and settled down not too far from the fire. Clipping his lightsaber back onto his belt, he tapped his blaster to make sure it was there, and hunkered down on the cold ground for a night's sleep. using his cloak hood as a pillow. Clothed all in white, but with red on the underside of his cloak, he cut an odd figure, unusual compared to the other creatures sitting or sleeping around the large bonfire in the middle of the night.

Early the next morning as the first grey illumination invaded the surrounding area the lone hooded figure awoke and began to make preparations for the journey, determined to make every effort to seem fully self-sufficient. Breakfast was dispatched with haste and the few personal belongings gathered and packed in a tight and efficient bundle.

The figure drew the hood closer to keep the mornings chill at bay and stamped out the remains of the night's fire, regretting to feel the eminating warmth diminish.

Now to keep an eye on the others, it would not do to lose them.

((Does the graphics being down for more then 6 hours count for anything?))
Slowdown woke to the stomping of fire, looked over towards the figure doing so and said, "G'morning to ye' too," then took another good look, "Ahh, you were that one with the fire last night," he mumbled to himself as he wrapped up his sleeping bag, then stretched. Yawning, he finnally took out something from his pack that looked something like a granola bar, "Kibble, nothing does taste about as bad," he said to himself as he grimaced, he looked to have forgotten the cloaked figure that he had been half speaking too, as he glanced over to the one in awhite cloak, It just seems so familiar....he thought, but couldn't wrap his mind around it, do he just let it go, "Alright then, lets all awake from a deep sleep," Slowdown said to his new traveling companions.

(((No, I don't really think so.)))
It wasn't the most pleasent thing being woken up near dawn. Raleigh must not have thought so either, since he just groaned when he sat up.
"Must you be so loud this early, Slowdown?" I whisper-shouted, "Most of this town or camp or whatever you want to call it is still asleep, and they'll be none to happy if you wake them."
The main fire was still burning, as I understand it always is, but most everything else was quiet. A few people were up; those that tended the fire through the night, the guards, the person next to us who had bundled his things together. Seemed that it probably was a good time to leave.
"Wretchedness," I muttered. "Botons need at least ten hours of sleep. I'll be dragging all day, I'd wager."
Raleigh decided he needed to shove in his input, like it mattered. "I guess if we're all up, we should probably get moving."
"Who says we're all up?" I mumbled, turning over. I would have fallen asleep again, but Raleigh wouldn't let me.
"We need to get going if we want to get anywhere. It wo'nt do any good if we stay here all day."
"Not all day," I groaned. "Just a few more hours. You two get the stuff together and wake me when you're finished, okay?"
Then I fell back asleep. Later, I found out that Slowdown had to do most of the work, since appearantly Raleigh wasn't familiar with packing things for journeys. It was about that time that I began to wonder just who this Raleigh was and if all humans were like this.
After a bit of breakfast, mostly dried meats, we began our trip. "We're heading southward today," I explained as we made our way through the permanent residentuals to the southern end of town. "There's a city there where we need to get some supplies. I never can remember the name. Tishash, I think, or something like that. Anyway, I was thinging we might head west after that."
Now that I was thinking of my own plans, I realized that I didn't know anyone else's plans. "By the way," I asked, "What exactly are everyone's plans?"
"Well, uh," Raleigh began his profound speech, "You know, I haven't really though about it. I was just kind of going to stick with you, if that's all right?"
"Fine by me, but I'll expect you to do your share. What about you, Slowdown, what are your plans?"

"Well, I'd like to get to as much traveling as possible, and found out what I can about that Spidrax thing, if I can get anything 'bout it, i might be able to avenge me folks, well maybe," Slowdown replied looking at his companions, "But until then I'll head wherever you think is best, as long as we keep moving," he finnally finished, as seriouse as he could possiblly be, he knew little about his companions, except they were traveling, and that was what he wanted, the two of them proboblly couldn't beat him in a fight, so he thought he didn't have to worry about betrayal, "Oh, and I'll do my fair share everything, I swear it!" Slowdown finished as he got another Kibble bar out of his pack and started to chew.

(((Time to do a little changing, thanks to the downage yesterday, as well as the prolonged absence of the www3 site.)))

That's when it happened, at least, for the first time. It wasn't a big change, but it was only the beginning. At that moment, everything went dark.
Raleigh looked around nervously, and I suspect I did the same. "What happened?" Raleigh asked, "Is it some kind of eclipse?"
"No, it-it's night," I said confounded, pointing to the sky, "Look, there's one of the moons. But, but wasn't it just day time a second ago?"
Raleigh looked around nervously again. "Slowdown," he said, "Did you have something to do with this?"
I was about to point out what a great idea this was when suddenly a sound came from Raleigh's pocket. He fumbled around in it and pulled out a small device. After openning it, he began to talk to it. (It's called a cell phone; it would eventually turn out to be one of the most useful pieces of equipment on our journeys). This is the conversation that took place:
"Hello?" said Raleigh.
"So, you are the one who has come," came a mysterious voice.
"Who are you?"
"That is not important. This I will tell you; the changing of the sky was caused by the Spidrax. Be ware. We shall talk soon again."
"Wait, who..." but the call was ended.
Raleigh closed the phone and put it back into his pocket. "What was that?" I asked.
Raleigh explained everything to me and Slowdown. "So," I said, "The Spidrax has that sort of power."
"What now?" Raleigh asked.
"We keep going." I replied. "I'm not tired, are you?" Raleigh shook his head. "Well then, the only thing we can do is go onward and find out whatever we can about this Spidrax."

((Kewl))

"I agree, anything we can do to find out aabout the Spidrax is on my too-do list," Slowdown replied, "Now, where too? I don't know much about these parts, and practiclly every one is proboblly freaking out about the eclipse thingy, and I'd rather not end up in the middle of a riot,"

The hooded figure looked around, frantically trying to figure out what was going on, it had just been morning, the fire had just been put out! The group of men were just a few steps away talking. It sounded like they were preparing to set off, despite the sudden appearance of night.

Panic suddenly overtook the figure, something was wrong, very wrong.

"Wait! Wait!" Her voice sounded much more girlish and frightened than she had meant it too. Nevertheless she jogged over to the mens' camp, her dark hood falling back from her face and revealing her long thick auburn hair pulled securely back from her face. She hadn't intended for her entrance to be quite this inept. "Please, I would like to come with you." She said straightening up and reverting to the regal charm she had learned in court, rubbish the lot of it.

Not only does the time suddenly shift from day to night, but now another wants to join our party. Now, I'll admit, I've always been suspisious for a Boton, but this was just too convenient to be chance, in my mind.
Before I could speak though, Raleigh decided to say the first words. "Who are you?"
"And why do you suddenly want to join us, missy?" I added.
"Do you have to be so surly to everyone, Sidrick?" Raleigh said as he turned to me.
"It's a tough world, Raleigh. You got to be tough to survive."
Nonetheless, Raleigh played his regular naive self. "Just ignore him. My name is Raleigh."
"Raleigh!" I exclaimed. "I invited you to join me, not the otherway around. Don't forget how I helped you with the cyclops."
"I haven't Sidrick, but these people might just be able to help us."
"Fine!" I said as I turned my back. Truth is, I really did want her to join us, but I was still freaked about the whole day-night thing. And, in my defense, I wasn't trying to be surly; I just wanted to be cautious, that's all.

"My name is Caresse. I was listening to your conversation last night and I would like to come with you on your journey." She needed a better reason...

"I also have a score to settle with this strange creature that is called the Spidrax." Was that it's name? It must be because everyone seemed to accept it. That was enough information. These men, save the one called Raleigh, seemed fairly close anyway.

"Well, Caresse, it's a pleasure to have you with us," Raleigh said.
"Eh," I said, looking back at her, "If you're coming with us, hurry up. We need to get to that city, Tashoun, or whatever before, uh, um, dark?" Ok, so I felt really sheepish, but this was all new to me. "Ok, so that's out of the question," I corrected myself, "But at least we can make a good effort to get their before day, hm?"
"Sounds good to me, Sidrick," Raleigh said merrily. He seemed almost pleased about this whole venture, but I didn't push it. Truth be told, I liked Raleigh. He had spunk and moxie, and something else I couldn't put my finger on, but whatever it was, it all suited him just fine. He turned back to Slowdown and Caresse. "You two okay with that?"

"Yes, that's fine, but, I have one request. I won't be troublesome to you I swear, but the one thing I ask is that we keep our destination to only ourselves and speak quietly when we must talk about it. I'm sure YOU know that it is a dangerous thing to take safety for granted." Caresse finished ominously, turning her question to the one Raleigh called Sidrick, who seemed to be the leader.
