What makes God happy

I'm just wondering what makes God smile, What makes him go and say "thats my son!" What pleases him..Does he have a sense of humor?

Well, many believe, like I do, that since we are created in God's image, he also has the same emotions that we do. I'm sure that whenever we turn or run from evil, it pleases him. As well as reading his Book, praying and giving him thanks for all he has given us, making it to church to worship him. Just taking some time out of our day, and dedicating it to Him pleases him. Recently my wife and I donated a bunch of clothing that we no longer needed, and it wasn't torn or anything, it was stuff that was still in very good condition. We donated, didn't even ask for a reciept. It felt good doing that, and when you feel good about something positive that you've done, it's probably God's way of saying "I'm proud of you."

It pleases God to save those who believe in the Gospel of Jesus - 1 Cor. 1:21

It pleases God when we live according to the Apostle's instructions: avoid sexual immorality, learn to control your body in a way that is holy and honorable, and don't wrong your brothers or take advantage of them. - 1 Thess 4:1-8

You must put your faith in Christ before you have any hope of pleasing God - Hebrews 11:6

God is pleased when we offer a sacrifice of praise (confessing Jesus Christ), do good, and share with others - Hebrews 13:16

It makes Him happy when you spend time with Him (in your thoughts).

What makes him say: that's my son is when you overcome evil with good (when you act like Him in other words, act like a son of the light, not having anything to do with the deeds of darkness, with sin)

What pleases Him is when you do his will

(His will is basically "what He wants". So when you do "what He wants", that makes Him happy). And what he wants is spelled out in the Bible, the commandments, the rules to live by. These rules are very helpful to avoid satan to have access to our soul. And that would please Him when you would keep yourself safe by obeying His rules.

ISA 48:17 This is what the LORD says - your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.
18 If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

Happy is not the right word for God. He is Joy, Beauty, Wonder, Creativity, and so on. His delight is in His beloved creation participating in His amazing world with thanksgiving as they discover His Goodness in so many different ways.

I agree, what makes God happy is His Son.

And a voice came from heaven, "You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased."

And if we live and walk in Christ He will pleased with us too

Obedience to the word of Jesus -- and yes, God absolutely has a sense of humor...

One man does not understand...


Obey the words of Jesus and you will find many "Bwa ha ha" moments.
