I heard a guy preach and i laugh and he had so much energy. Then I look at other stuff, I realized he was not actually preaching God's word, he was talking about him self. He was talking about how he prayed to God in front of 200,000 people, and while he quoted the Bible in his prayer in varying parts it was all about his prayer. The guy was Samuel Rodriguez. He is an entertainer not a preacher. Then I saw him on td jakes i think was show and watched as td took the Lords name in vain on tv, no one said i thing. What he said to another guy is you will not take my job, Jesus. Is this what passes for Christian these days, the congregations is not shock when their preacher openly sins in front of them? Do people want entertainment or God, because it seems like entertainment is what they want.

I lay down to go to sleep one night and while I was falling a sleep a door open and Jesus was on the other side, He could barely get the words out before I was running for him"come" I was in Heaven the door shut, I was awake with Jesus in Heaven. The light was so bright all I could see was Jesus face, His robes were so white they were blinding. I new there were others there and buildings but all I could see was bright white light all around me. Jesus and me sat and He ministered to me all night. Then the door open again it was black. I said I don't want to go back, He said you have too. Then I started being pulled backwards through the door. Jesus called out "and don't let anyone call you minister for I alone am the minister" I could not remember what Jesus spoke to me about all night, but those word rang in my head as I open my eyes to morning. I did not understand His words, I do now, Its not about me its about Jesus. I am not just to not take a honored position but I am to honor my God.

See it, that was a true story but did me talking about my self and my relationship to God help you one bit? It might be entertaining if you even believe me. but it was for me not you.

Now If I said Jesus said call no one rabbi for I alone am the teacher, and call no one father for God in Heaven is you Spiritual Father. And then I do this. Mat 23 :8
8 “Don’t let anyone call you ‘Rabbi,’ for you have only one teacher, and all of you are equal as brothers and sisters.[d] 9 And don’t address anyone here on earth as ‘Father,’ for only God in heaven is your spiritual Father. 10 And don’t let anyone call you ‘Teacher,’ for you have only one teacher, the Messiah. 11 The greatest among you must be a servant. 12 But those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

now I say Jesus was criticizing religious leaders, what is true in that day is true today. Now Mat 23 in context.
23 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples, 2 “The teachers of religious law and the Pharisees are the official interpreters of the law of Moses.[a] 3 So practice and obey whatever they tell you, but don’t follow their example. For they don’t practice what they teach. 4 They crush people with unbearable religious demands and never lift a finger to ease the burden.

5 “Everything they do is for show. On their arms they wear extra wide prayer boxes with Scripture verses inside, and they wear robes with extra long tassels. 6 And they love to sit at the head table at banquets and in the seats of honor in the synagogues. 7 They love to receive respectful greetings as they walk in the marketplaces, and to be called ‘Rabbi.’[c]

13 “What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you shut the door of the Kingdom of Heaven in people’s faces. You won’t go in yourselves, and you don’t let others enter either.[e]

15 “What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you cross land and sea to make one convert, and then you turn that person into twice the child of hell[f] you yourselves are!

16 “Blind guides! What sorrow awaits you! For you say that it means nothing to swear ‘by God’s Temple,’ but that it is binding to swear ‘by the gold in the Temple.’ 17 Blind fools! Which is more important—the gold or the Temple that makes the gold sacred? 18 And you say that to swear ‘by the altar’ is not binding, but to swear ‘by the gifts on the altar’ is binding. 19 How blind! For which is more important—the gift on the altar or the altar that makes the gift sacred? 20 When you swear ‘by the altar,’ you are swearing by it and by everything on it. 21 And when you swear ‘by the Temple,’ you are swearing by it and by God, who lives in it. 22 And when you swear ‘by heaven,’ you are swearing by the throne of God and by God, who sits on the throne.

23 “What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens,[g] but you ignore the more important aspects of the law—justice, mercy, and faith. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things. 24 Blind guides! You strain your water so you won’t accidentally swallow a gnat, but you swallow a camel![h]

25 “What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are so careful to clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside you are filthy—full of greed and self-indulgence! 26 You blind Pharisee! First wash the inside of the cup and the dish, and then the outside will become clean, too.

27 “What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs—beautiful on the outside but filled on the inside with dead people’s bones and all sorts of impurity. 28 Outwardly you look like righteous people, but inwardly your hearts are filled with hypocrisy and lawlessness.

29 “What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you build tombs for the prophets your ancestors killed, and you decorate the monuments of the godly people your ancestors destroyed. 30 Then you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would never have joined them in killing the prophets.’

31 “But in saying that, you testify against yourselves that you are indeed the descendants of those who murdered the prophets. 32 Go ahead and finish what your ancestors started. 33 Snakes! Sons of vipers! How will you escape the judgment of hell?

34 “Therefore, I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers of religious law. But you will kill some by crucifixion, and you will flog others with whips in your synagogues, chasing them from city to city. 35 As a result, you will be held responsible for the murder of all godly people of all time—from the murder of righteous Abel to the murder of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you killed in the Temple between the sanctuary and the altar. 36 I tell you the truth, this judgment will fall on this very generation.

Jesus Grieves over Jerusalem
37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me. 38 And now, look, your house is abandoned and desolate.[j] 39 For I tell you this, you will never see me again until you say, ‘Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord!’[k]”

Now what did I do? I did not say much, I pointed to Jesus. I was a bridge, God made me a conductor of electricity, but Jesus the spiritual conductor. That is what A preacher is that bridge. That is what they do is point you at Jesus and Let Him Speak. That is the lesson of those verses, that is the meaning of my night in Heaven.

do you see? This is real preaching of God, I am your brother, not a teacher, but equal to you, you may help me see tomorrow. True teaching always recites God's words directly, they lead you to God's word. The false teacher will never do this because the Word of God is a sword, and Light. My words can not stand neither can yours, but God said Heaven and earth would pass before one Letter of God's Law Word.

mat 5 17 “Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose. 18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God’s law will disappear until its purpose is achieved. 19 So if you ignore the least commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God’s laws and teaches them will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.

20 “But I warn you—unless your righteousness is better than the righteousness of the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven!

I take that to be the word will never end, but if you don't Like that translation
Jesus is the word, Jesus lives forever and rules, so God word will Live and Rule for ever, no? Point being no one can challenge God's Word.

hope it helps.

To address the question in the title: Im convinced they're (some, not all) in it for the money.

I don't think preachers are suppose to make great money and be famous. This world is getting bad When you can take the Lords name in vain on tv while preaching and no one notices, something is very very wrong.

You don't get famous for telling people off.

I don't think that is true, look at Paul he got people so mad they beat him and he just kept on. They threw him in prison, and he kept on they cut off his head thousands of years ago, and we call him brother to this day.

Look at Jesus He made a lot of people mad with his preaching is he not the way we are to follow? People will get mad if your doing it right, they will kill you in the end if you do it really good, history always repeats, proverbs.
