  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I thought the Bible text would answer this question.

Unmotivated or dead faith is not faith at all and thus there is no salvation.

The foundation of salvation is that God reconciled us to Him.

mva. That text does not answer or even ask what is the foundation of ones salvation. That passage (James 2:14-26) is about genuine faith....genuine faith is proven as such by The Holy Spirit producing fruit in the life of a believer. Thats what the text is about.

God has torn down the wall of seperation between humanity and Himself that we can come boldly to the throne of grace. Thats the legal act of God through Christ, thus we have reconciliation in a general sense. But that does not answer the question...your personal salvation...what is it based upon...your merit, or the merits of another namely Christ's life and blood. Does God save you by His grace alone through Christ alone if you believe in Christ's life and blood without your performance? A one or the other answer will suffice.
