What is the greater miracle?

What is the greater miracle, creation of the world, or Jesus Christ freely giving salvation to all mankind by coming here to earth, dying on the cross, raising from the dead and now sitting at the right hand of the Father?

tough question, I think. Obviosly, most will think and say that Christ's defeat of death is the greater. However, I see Christ's birth, death, resurrection as a continuation of God's creation miracles, so I don't know that I really see either as greater. They both exemplify God's love and His desire to be with us. IMHO

Yes, I agree with Herev that both are immensely miraculous actions, and we must stand in awe of the power and love involved in both. Whether God created as the YECs believe or whether God created over billions of years using immensely complex and powerful natural processes, the degree of sheer immensity of the creative miracle is what we should recognize.

Personally, I find the idea of God creating using a process of evolution over billions of years much, much more awe-inspiring than immediate special creation of all the species.

Interesting question. I have to give the point to the creation of the world, because the Incarnation happened within the created world.

Definately the gift of forgiveness. Unconditional love is a still a mystery to me. That is truly a miracle.

So far it seems the majority that have posted believe that Creation is a greater miracle or on par with, Jesus dying on the cross and Redeeming the world. So what do you others think?

Is God creating this world a greater miracle than Him coming down to earth to die for us so that we can live forever with Him?

Well, we have two for them being equal, one for creation and one for forgiveness.

For me, nothing comes close to what Jesus Christ did for each of us.

Well, we are talking "orders of magnitude" here, so it is somewhat of a moot point. How are we to guage the degree of immensity for a supernatural experience? Kind of the "how many angels on the head of a pin" type question.

I was not arguing with your position, I was saying that it is impossible for us to compare such supernatural events when it comes right down to it. A "greater miracle"? Greater in what sense? Requiring more power? Having a greater impact on our lives? Requiring more grace and compassion? Which we should be more focused on? There are a lot of criteria for "greater" and I am just not sure I know what you are getting to in the context of an "orgins theology" forum.

How do I quantify the miracle of God's love? If he had not created the world, I could not experience it. If he had not sent his son to earth I would not experience it. Am I supposed to try and line these events up in some order of importance?

What many Creationists don't get is the immense majesty, power and awesomeness that can be seen in the processes of evolution over billions of years. When you truly understand it and grasp its immensity and complexity, I just sit back and say "God is awesome".
