I was just wondering what the general consesus is among Christians regarding biblical creation. Are there still major denominations believing in it or have all major denominations pretty much moved to theistic evolution?

One argument I come up against when debating (non-Christians) about the C vs. E issue is along the lines of: "But today all the major denominations believe in evolution!!", so I just thought I'd ask.

In the US, many (most?) people believe in YEC. Outside the US, it's much less common, although I think there's a few fundamentalist churches in Australia that are sort of a secondary outpost. Many people outside the fundamentalist parts of Christianity are totally shocked to hear that there are people who believe the earth is literally 6000 years old.

A thin margin that will soon be a thin margin with the evolutionists with the upper hand (which will soon be a more comfortable margin, if God wills).

Of course the evolutionists have the upper hand. They are forcing their belief system upon innocent school children at taxpayer expense!!!!! And Satan is laughing all the way to the bank

Satan has nothing to do with the teaching of valid science in schools.

It is those that would put stumbling blocks in front of Christians by claiming that acceptance of valid science is in conflict with being Christian that are doing Satan's work.

I believe God's word and I accept evolution. I did not say that believing Gods word is doing Satan's work.

The two are not mutually exclusive and as I pointed out, to say that they are is to put a stumbling block in front of fellow Christians.

Evolution is not a religion. It is an area of scientific study that guess what, is probaly dominated by Christians in America. All of those teachers in public schools, my guess is that most of them are Chrisitian and most have no issue with teaching and accepting evolution.

1. I am an evolutionist; a theistic one.
2. Evolution isn't a religion; its science. It rightfully belongs in the science classroom and if I were to be a biology teacher instead of a history one, I'd include a chapter on evolution in my curriculum.
3. So I'm now Satanic? Oy vey

I personally don't know any Christians who believe in evolution.... and I don't see how anyone can believe the Bible and at the same time believe evolution is how mankind came to be.

This doesn't mean I believe the earth is 6000 years old. I'm not sure how old the earth is, but I don't think the age of the earth is as important as how life originated.

And btw, some of you really need to read the book 'The Case for a Creator', by Lee Strobel. Darwinism isn't winning, I think some of you have outdated information. In the last few decades, a growing number of scientists have moved in the other direction, read that book and you might look at this from a new perspective.

This is an often repeated myth and has no basis in realiity. The only scientists who are 'moved' in the other direction are those that do it for religious reasons, not scientific ones. In scientific circles, evolution is the only theory that is being researched, reviewed, and revised. All others have been falsified.

First of all... you sound more like an atheist than a Christian. Second, he isn't the one talking in the book, he's a journalist, not a scientist. A number of scientists are interviewed.

(I can already hear what your next comment is going to be...)

I'm sure according to you, any scientist who doesn't believe in evolution, isn't a scientist.

Just read the book.

Wrong. That is a false assumption. They were scientists who were atheist or agnostic, who saw the many holes in naturalism, and the evidence led them in another direction.

Thanks, just understand, I hold you in no less esteem or regard for your beliefs in strict creation, I hope you wouldn't judge others' Christianity for their belief in Theistic Evolution. If we both have Christ as our savior, we can argue over the rest when we get to heaven.

Evolution does not equal naturalism.

As I said, they made their move based on religious reasons (usually after become Christian and belonging to a church that espouses literal interpretation).

Again, they are still a very small minority. To say that there has been an increase in this would need to be backed up by statistics.

If you have some statistics to back up your claim about the last few decades, I would sure like to see it.

Often those who make this claim do it with a few hand picked stories of individual people. Reality does not back up the assertion.
