Was the world promised to Voldermort beforehand?
If the writer wants it that way.
Thats the thing about fiction... you can make up anything you want.
And thats what many people do.

So can I.
But similarly, both of us would easily identify a storyline continuity problem if the book has Voldemort arriving in Canaan after a 40 year journey thru the Sinai wilderness, yet every reader thinks he is still living in Egypt because the script says he never left Egypt.
And?

And if the writer does want it that way, you would expect Voldermort to take over the world, wouldn't you?

I would expect the story to follow the path the writer chose.
But if you hand me a book where Voldemort has taken over the world, dont expect me to assume he has done so in real life.
The same rule applies to ANY fanciful story. Be entertained. Learn from any moral lessons there might be. But dont assume the story is a literal account of a real event.
Ian Fleming sets his spy thrillers in real places. But there is no ex-naval officer named James Bond, killing the Queen's enemies while dressed for dinner at Buckingham Palace.
Harry Potter may live in Surrey, south of London... but Hogwarts does not exist.

Why would I expect that, if I didn't expect it myself?

You don't think Voldemort took over the world, and neither do I.

So, no.

I wouldn't expect you to believe it either.

You do realise that you don't get extra Credibility Points for such comments? You do realise that you actually lose some?

Thanks. I shall (and so that's what the little star represents...). But not to the extent that you apparently do. From the number of posts you've made and the time that you've been a member, assuming that you are on for a ridiculous 10 hours a day, that's one post per minute over 15 years.

And hey, if you wanna play 'Score Some Cheap Points' then I want to join in:

Your credibility rating is running at around 1% of posts. Mine is 47%. Hah!

I'll give you a call when it gets as low as yours (another Cheap Point!).
You'll die of old age before that happens, chief.

Do you see how many posts I have?

Every single one made with my own two hands -- without exception.

At the height of my posting, and with the wind at my back, I could make 5000 posts per day.

... Which, as fanciful stories go, has the advantage of having been never written.
But if it had been, it would NOT be an exception. So NO. NOT right. Not at all.

Was Origins written?
Origins of Species?
Yes. and it was not a fanciful story. Rather a boring and tedious explanation of an observed phenomena that had baffled naturalists for centuries.
