According to those who knew him best...no. But I'm actually half hoping that he was wrong. I love the thought of him having the opportunity of telling God what he really thought of Him.
I heard he was much less anti God in " real life" then in his debates.

He certainly couldn't tell God anything God didn't already know.

He wasn't anti-God. He was anti-religion. A step up from Dawkins, who was anti-fundamentalism.

Dawkins was just an angry old man, far as I can see.
And who can blame him? I, for one, am bloody tired of Fundamentalists telling me I'm going to hell for not believing in the literal inerrancy of Genesis, whether I believe in Christ or not.

Ask a Catholic then.

I don't need to. I'm an Anglican (theologically almost identical) who was educated in Catholic schools. They think the notion that belief in a literal Genesis is a requirement of salvation is nonsense.

So you get tired of hearing people say you're going to Hell for not believing in the inerrancy of a literal interpretation of Genesis, but it's okay to tell us we're going to Pergatory (or worse) for not taking the Eucharist?

Sure. The key difference is that they're not trying to teach it to other people's kids in the public schools.

I don't understand this reply.

I take it you're not a kid in public school.

So why are you going from, "I get tired of hearing people say you're going to Hell for not believing in the inerrancy of a literal interpretation of Genesis," to "they're not trying to teach it to other people's kids in the public schools."

Are you speaking for the kids in the public schools now?

I realize what you're saying.

You're saying your side doesn't teach the Sacraments to kids in public schools.

But I'm not sure what that has to do with drilling for water in the Gulf of Mexico?

I certainly never told you that.

It's exactly what they get. They might not use those words, but kids aren't dumb, they get it. The columbine shooters sure got it.
