We had Hallowe'en a few weeks ago, and Christmas is next month.

If my wife had her way she would put up the christmas decoration for three months. We had people one year get mad at us for putting up our Christmas decorations before Halloween. Of course it gets cold here and my wife wanted to take advantage of the warm weather. She did not want to go out in the cold to put up the lights and everything.

Surely a false religion is one that is, in whole or in part, wrong?

Or one that pretends to be a religion but isn't? Like pseudoscience.

They "quibble"? It's pretty firmly established that plants first evolved before any animal walked (or swam) the Earth.

Sorry to be a pedantic bumhole, but that depends on your definition of a plant. Phylogenetically speaking, plants have been defined as narrowly as Embryophyta (land plants) to as broadly as the whole red alga + green alga + land plant clade. IIRC, red algae did come well before the first known animals, but land plants are considerably younger.

(I don't think anyone seriously into the taxonomy business calls, say, brown algae or euglenids "plants" any more, though my knowledge of deep eukaryote phylogeny has quite large holes in it.)

I think the "quibbling" cupid refers to is our... issues with him (1) including bacteria in the plant kingdom and (2) insisting that Genesis 1 chronicles the appearance of any plant by some broad definition, not flowering (or at the very least, seed) plants living on land specifically.
