i just dont get it... it just isnt funny.

please somebody help me, am i not getting it? or is just rubbish?

some quotes, perhaps you could help me with these examples if dont really feel like giving an in-depth explanation.

"I had a linguistics professor who said that it's man's ability to use language that makes him the dominant species on the planet. That may be, but I think there's one other thing that separates us from animals. We aren't afraid of vacuum cleaners."

"Never raise your hands to your kids. It leaves your groin unprotected."

"I'm not into working out. My philosophy: No pain, no pain."

"TV ads show you how detergents take out bloodstains. I think if you've got a bloodstained T-shirt, maybe laundry isn't your biggest problem."

"Why does Sea World have a seafood restaurant? I'm halfway through my fish-burger and I realize, "Oh my God.... I could be eating a slow learner.""

btw, i dont mean "i dont get it" as in ive missed the wordplay or references. ive seen them, and i just dont think theyre funny.

so why do so many people think that they're funny?

is something wrong with me  ?

btw, those were just random quotes from this site:

A seinfeld quote out of context of the story isnt really funny. What is funny about Seinfeld? Well, you see real people in this show. sometimes you even see yourself. The characters are so self centered its hilarious and the dialoge is really funny. But, if its not funny to you, then its not funny. I'm like that with the show "Friends" I never liked it, thought it was stupied. To each his own.

Comedy is subjective. There's no comedian out there that is going to appeal to everyone. Just as you don't understand why Seinfeld (I'm assuming both the show and his standup) is funny...I can't quite grasp why you don't see the humor in some of it.

For me, the best explaination I can give for why I like a lot of his stuff is that his standup relates to everyday things that I can often relate to. And he also just points out ironic or stupid things that you just never really think of. I mean with the quote above about the bloodstained shirt...I mean seriously...I've often seen those commercials...but never once found it odd that these people are concerned with getting blood out of a t-shirt (because it's just not that common of an occurance, and what the heck happened to this person that their shirt is covered in blood?). So once Jerry actually points it out...it's just funny.

The show is a little different, not always dealing with everyday occurance, but more about unique and quirky characters and a lot of coincidental humor.

But if you don't find it funny...you don't find it funny...there's nothing wrong with you...you just don't have the same sense of humor as those of us who enjoy it.

As some have said above, this kind of thing is really subjective. You can't please all the people all the time. I, for one, think Seinfeld is just a fair stand-up comedian anyway. None of the quotes you listed were really that funny IMO either. The show, OTOH, is really quite brilliant. The wacky situations that are set up, the brilliant lines to go along with them, and four really good characters (esp. Kramer and George) are what make it so, IMO. But like I said, it might not be your thing. C'est la vie.

"You know, if you take everything I've done in my entire life and condense it down into one day, it looks decent."

hahaha, one of my favorite quotes ever.

Seinfeld is appealing to me because I encounter people like they encounter all the time. Low talkers, man-hands, all of it. And they go through the strangest experiences: The Bet, The Peterman Reality Tour, etc. As stated above somewhere, people either love Seinfeld with all their hearts or hate it so much, they'd like to see all copies of it burned. Love it or hate it, it's there.

Great quote !:D (yada, yada, yada).
I've always loved Seinfeld! I usually indentified with conversations they have, or personality traits. They remind me of myself, and people I know, and I always laugh outloud.

Theres something magical about it, in the same way Friends was magical. You can't really put a finger on it, but you just have to feel it.

George pushing the frogger machine up 5th avenue, with a birds eye view frogger-style from above, was about the funniest thing I ever saw.

Phrases like Soup Nazi are just classic - you cant reproduce it anywhere else.

:D Tell me that's not funny. Get it? They cook up the dolphins who don't perform well, which they would never do but the thought of it is so out there that its funny.

My dad doesn't like Seinfeld, like you, but my wife does, which is good enough for me to be able to watch it.:)

I think the reason Seinfeld is so funny is because in almost every situation in life you can relate it to a Seinfeld episode. I don't know how many times I've been like, "That's just like that one Seinfeld episode where...." It's just so relatable.

I'm like you. I don't get why this show is so incredibly popular. I do "get" the humor and I actually do find it funny. But something about the show bores me. I can appreciate the funny lines, but the situations themselves are not funny to me. Like the famous soup nazi epi. All the character say funny things. But the concept of a soup chef acting like a weird dictator was boring.

To each his own.

Oh, I want to add to the last post.

People see lines like "Ive always loved U" ... "Nited airlines." It makes sense if you follow the whole story, if you understand the subtle humor involved. To anyone else, its just kind a corny attempt at humor.
'Yo Yo Ma"
"Not that there's anything wrong with that"
"NO SOUP FOR YOU"
"That is one magic loogie"
"Theses pretzles are making me thirsty!"
"A**MAN"
the BRO, or manseire
yada yada yada.........

I want to become a good, clean comedian, if any of you have any strange stories and jokes that are originalPLEASE send them to me. Thank you.
The best way to become a good comedian is probably to come up with your own material...not solicit for material from others.
