Scots-Irish (both Scottish and Irish, and Scotch-Irish), German, English, Welsh, and if my paternal grandfather is correct, maybe a little Cherokee. Both sides have large amounts of Scottish, Irish, and English, and my dad's side has a large amount of German as well. I don't know if my mom's side of the family has any German in it, but some of the names sound German, even if they aren't spelled like German names (Fish, for example, could have been Fisch at some point).
Most of my mom's side of the family came over around 1900, but my maternal great-grandfather apparently did trace it back to the name 'Booth' and stopped before finding out whether it was John Wilkes or not, but no one else has tried since then to trace that line back, at least to my knowledge (it might be because no one was sure whether my great-grandfather was drunk at the time).
My dad's family came over at various times, but some of them have been here as far back as the colonies. My dad suspects that we may be related to Anne Hutchinson, although that's more by name than anything else, but it is pretty much confirmed that we're related to Robert Morris, who signed the Declaration of Independence. On my dad's maternal grandmother's side, we're related to the designer of Germany's Big Bertha cannon, which was used in World War I.
