What's on my mind is that I've now been in this parish three years, and I'm coming up for a review of my appointment. Which is quite nerve-wracking!

How often is a review done?

In theory there's supposed to be an annual review which is less of a big deal, more of a check in, how is everything going, what are your goals for the coming year and what ongoing training do you intend to do, kind of thing, but Covid meant those didn't happen when I got here. But the three year review is linked to a decision on whether to renew my appointment (ie. whether I stay in the parish or go somewhere else) so there's more involved, and more hanging on it.

Do you mean, my sermon recordings? I doubt it. There's a whole process - I'm supposed to fill in a lengthy review document, then I meet with an external panel, that panel meets with people from my parish, and out of all of that they feed back to my bishop, who meets with me - something like that, anyway. I've never been through this process before as where I was working before did it differently.

No, and honestly I doubt it will happen this side of Christmas. My preparatory paperwork is due in a couple of weeks, but I can't see any panel meeting in December. We'll see!
