What is biblical truth when there is no consensus?

The verse explains it perfectly. Jesus is indwelt by the Father, the same way we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit. So whenever anyone comes to be judged, they see the face of Jesus.

For telling me I am denying the Trinity, you sure have a strange view.

It is not a strange view at all, did you not know that the Father entrusted all judgment to the Son?

The view you were explaining was reminiscent of jehovah witnesses, so the query was relevant.

Perhaps I should have said you do not hold the orthodox view.

Yours is a question of authority. Who has it, each and every individual OR some democratic mean? Is it neither?

Who has truth in Mathematics? We don’t have issues there. Or not many just yet.
I think answers have become more important than questions.
Winning the argument is more important than learning something new.

Even Jesus knew the value of the discussion.

Luke 10:26 NIV
“What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?”

And with all due respect, there is no such thing as playing the "God card".
Perhaps you misunderstood what I wrote about that.

When someone shares their opinion about the Bible, but in order to end the debate, claims your argument is not with them, that is playing the "God card" in my view.

I believe Jesus teaching that the Holy Spirit would lead you into all truth and bring to remembrance everything I have taught you was primarily applicable to the disciples/Apostles who wrote the bible, not for us.

Does the Holy Spirit - who represents Truth and was given to be a comforter and guide - no longer indwell believers ?

I actually do hold the orthodox view on the trinity.

You simply focussed on the wording of the verse that implied that you didn't.

I get that all the time. They exclaim "The Bible sez ...." when it's really just their fallible interpretation.

What do we do with a false prophet who sez "Thus sayeth the Lord"? It makes me want to be careful.

Each of us must discern what we will accept as "truth. We do this through the help of others whom we respect and the humility to listen to the Holy Spirit guiding us.
Thanks for joining the discussion.
I like what you are saying. Very well stated.

Eat the meat and spit out the bones.

Thank you !!!!!!!!!!!
I'm glad someone gets it.

The other one is, "God told me..."

I mean... what do you say to that?

Biggest problem with a religious forum... everyone is selling, but no one is buying. (in general)

I say that God told me the opposite! Which puts it into their court again to tell me how I can't hear God but they can.

Of course it IS possible that God did tell them that. So mine cannot be an automatic response.

Some are buying. But it's like going to the grocery store and finding a dozen brands each with multiple options. I just wanted some peanut butter. So what do people do? struggle to find the brand they always buy and try to ignore the rest. Pity, because one of those other brands might be better. Nah, I always get the Smuckers Natural.

Agreed.
On par with that is when God gives them a calling, and they think that calling is for everyone.

You're right. It is a lot like shopping.
People go with the brand they know and trust, and are very suspicious of anything else.
I guess that's okay to a point. But you are right. They may be missing out.

Yes, or a guy thinking he has a call to ordained ministry while his bishop disagrees. I suppose he could go independent and get a mail-order ordination certificate.

If I really believed I was called into ministry, I wouldn't let a Bishop stop me. But then I'm not Catholic either. - LOL

Reminds me of Thomas Aquinas, who really did work to get both or all sides of a debate on paper. Sometimes he presented his opponent's arguments better than they did, all before totally demolishing the well put position of his opponent. We seldom do that today. I think some people don't even read fully before pasting in a response. They never see both sides. The other side is pretty much invisible to them.

I see people who have clearly pasted in an argument that doesn't really fly, it gets refuted pretty well, and then five posts later they paste in the same exact thing as if they didn't read a thing about their argument getting debunked.

Nobody seems to learn.
