Maybe you read wrongly. Or you can state where the disagreement is.
I didn’t read wrongly. the roots of human nature can be changed. sin is not a part of our nature. so, since that’s not what we believe about sin, this part of the subforum isn’t for that kind of post. that’s what St Justin’s is for.

I don’t mind posts like this personally.

The problem is that The Ancient Way is meant as a haven for Orthodox Christians, since our faith is constantly criticized, not so much by mainstream Christians, but by a vocal minority of members of primarily Restorationist and Radical Reformed / Fundamentalist and Evangelicals and also certain extremely liberal denominations in the other forums. But unlike every other denomination-specific forum on CF.com, we provide a place where people who are not members of the Orthodox Church can debate us (St. Justin Martyr’s Hall).

Lets look at the biblical definition

1 John 3:4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.

James 2:11 For He who said, “Do not commit adultery, also said, “Do not murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. You can find the rest of what He said and what He personally wrote here Ten Commandments

Romans 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”

Sin is breaking God's law any of the Ten Commandments

Also anything that is not of faith is sin

Romans 14:23 But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin.

Regarding actions, Jesus addresses this in Mat 5:19-30 using two of the Ten Commandments as examples. He doesn't even want us to have thoughts that lead to breaking God's law- thoughts of anger that lead to committing murder, thoughts of lust that lead to committing adultery. If our heart changes, our actions are a reflection of this. Hence why He wrote His law in our hearts, right where sin begins. Heb 8:10 we just need to cooperate with Him through love John 14:15-18

It's also pretty poor form to respond to the OP without having read any of the other responses.

My apologies, I did not realize what forum I was in, I saw it pop up in my notifications.

I did not realize it was a requirement to read all of the replies in order to respond to the OP. Guess they should post that in the rules somewhere. Appreciate the warm welcome in your forum. I will not post any further. Take care.

"The Holy Fathers tell us that those who seek salvation from the mere fear of Hell are regarded as slaves, and those who perform glorious deeds in order to be rewarded with the Kingdom of Heaven are simply mercenary. God wills us to come to Him in the manner of sons. He wishes us to lead honorable lives for the love of Him and from the eagerness to serve Him. He wishes us to seek felicity in uniting ourselves to Him in mind and heart." -- The Way of a Pilgrim

I've been reading a few pages of this work daily as part of a new habit of meditation. I'm glad I did so today, as that's something I needed to hear.

It isn't a requirement, it just avoids reposting arguments that others may have already made, plus it also allows you to get a bit of context which will help you realise where the thread was posted.
