One of the reasons we chose the name Seventh Day Adventist was to make a statement about two core beliefs.Never have understood that one. Can anybody tell me how they differ? Say from a Baptist, or Mormon, or just plain every day Christian?

Everyday is the sabbath. If you've entered Gods rest. Have you done that?

so if you only work 5 days a week you have broken this commandment?Hi Everready,
The commandment says to cease from all labor on the 7th day. It's very specific.
I don't believe that we should cease from all labor seven days a week. In fact, the commandment says to work 6 days, and rest on the 7th day that God sanctified at creation.
God bless,

got it... but if you only labor and work for 5 days.... or 4 days... then has this commandment been broken?Exodus 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

Why does that matter? Well, during that time, it was considered cutomary to work six days a week.got it... but if you only labor and work for 5 days.... or 4 days... then has this commandment been broken?

the early pioneers of this church took this command literally... i.e. you were commanded to work 6 days, and rest one. There was discussion about the possibility of working less than 6 days meant you were breaking the commandment...Why does that matter? Well, during that time, it was considered cutomary to work six days a week.
wasn't a debate... it was "what do you think about????" anyway....No, I'm really not interested in turning everything into a debate, so thanks.
I answered a visitor's question with scripture.
I'm sure some Christians don't take the words of the commandments as literal. That's actually pretty obvious when you look around.
We are to rest in Christ on the seven-day and work the other six. Both parts are in the 4th commanement. One cannot ignore one and yet be righteous according to the law. Hebrews 4 indicates that the Sabbath is a foretaste of that rest we enter into when we rest in Christ.Hi Everready,

I seem to recall reading a study that says a full-time house wife and mother is worth about $100k a year.
