Guitar playing rarely makes me feel anything other than "oh joy, you can adequately play something". But sometimes, just sometimes, a gentleman comes along who can truly create the most wonderful sounds from his chosen instrument, and that ... that is worth a hundred ok players who picked it up for the girls and seemingly haven't advanced beyond half heartedly doing a bit of strumming/leaving their beauitful creation to gather dust in the corner.

:sorry:

However to all of you guitar players who play for the love of their sweet, sweet sound and the feeling of awesomeness that surges through you the moment you pick your fine instrument up ...I salute you.

Violin: played it for 5 or 6 years haven't touched it since but sure would like to brush up on it again! If you can play violin; it's easy to learn cello and viola! Again, I don't read music, I'm just all eyes and ears! :D

Recorder: everyone was taught the recorder when I was in school! So anything relating to a recorder; easy stuff to play!

Piano: I can't read music, so I either pick it up by myself or have someone show me and then I play it! I'm far from a pro at it!

Guitar - Accoustic (6 string/12 string): again, I taught myself this one.

Bass: I either create or pick up tunes on that. So easy to play!

Classical: I'm no pro Spanish guitarist at this one but I sure would like to be!

Lead: again, either pick up tunes or create ones on that!

Penny Whistle: I don't know what notes I'm hitting but again, pick up or create!

African Drums: I have no idea what the proper name is but my music teacher taught me the big African drums and that was sooo awesome!!!

Harmonica: I've picked up tunes on that but how to get it smooth; there's a real tactic to that one!

Banjo: we have one; I just want to play it!

Saxophone (Soprano/Alto/Barritone): we've got the middle one; I want to learn all of them! Barritone is my fav! Fantastic sound!

Drums: we've got an old set my Pa used for his band, and I think it'd be awesome to know how to play that! I use to play around on it when I was a kid.

I don't know where to stop! I want to play EVERY instument on this globe! Taditional or foreign; I don't care! I love music!!! Oboe, French Horn, Celtic instruments, Scottish instruments, the bag pipes, the harp, the flute ........... I want to learn everything!!! LOL!

Absolutely nothing :D

I don't think I'm very musically inclined. I have an electric keyboard and can listen to a song, then sit there and pick it out and play it by ear. Thats basically about it.

I've had many people in high school tell me I should join band though, playing percussion. It's probably something I'd enjoy if I ever got into it. I can keep a rhythm pretty good, I like that its more mathematical than artistic, and lets face it, whats funner than purposely beating stuff with sticks :p

lol as much as I love percussions, I'd suck at it. I can keep time, but I'm much more artistically inclined than mathmatically (I shocked my first piano teacher by telling her I suck at math - she thought that since I seemed so natural at picking up the piano I would be great at math :p) and rely more on my ear than anything so I dunno how good I'd be at the drums :p

but yes! the penny whistle! I can't believe I forgot to list that one. I can play that a bit. I taught myself on the penny whistle in D and just got one in C to start practicing with :tutu:

I also used to play the recorder when I was little, but haven't touched it in years. I'm not sure if I even still have my old recorder :sorry:

I play a lot of instruments, and the whole thing about being the "jack of all trades, expert in none" applies to me pretty well. :sorry:

In order of proficiency, from highest to lowest:

Guitar (acoustic)
Guitar (electric)
Piano/keyboard
Harmonica
Ocarina
Bass
Autoharp
Trumpet
Recorder/wooden flute
Tin whistle

And I've tried drums. I suck at them real bad.

Yeah, so many guys think playing a guitar makes them chick-magnet-rock-stars...I don't feel impressed by them at all. Now show me a guy who can play a violin or something...that's hot.

Keeping it in the family - Josh plays clarinet in band at school  He also has a harmonica, recorder, keyboard, and pan flute at home. I so proud :happyblush:

I didn't know that penny whistles came in different keys until I just got one! I was reading the box and it said 'D'. I'm like, 'Okay!' I was going to get another celtic instrument but the bloke then pulled back on his deal and asked for 200 bucks more! So, bummer there! He should get an earful!

And the instrument that no one can take from you; your voice!!! Now that is my fav instrument of all! :D

I played the double reeds for eight years. Oboe and Bassoon. I was better at the oboe though (used the extra hard reeds). Never should have quit.
I've played guitar just as long as oboe except I still have my guitar. I used to lead worship at my church with my cousin. We sang and played guitars for 5 years. Lots of fun, but my church is huge now and I don't lead anymore.

I can also whistle and snap my fingers really loud.

I have to admit. I'm a sucker for a guy that can play classical guitar. acoustic is nice and all, but classical makes my heart melt :tutu:

my guy plays guitar(bass, electric, acoustic and classical) but also mandolin, piano/keyboard, drums, harmonica and probably other things I'm forgetting. It's his goal to learn all instruments. Oh and he also sings really well. :swoon:

No, it was kinda like a penny whistle except much longer and thicker and made of metal instead. Have no idea what it was called; neither did the bloke trying to sell it to us. But anyway, he backed out on the deal so, I never got to try it out! Boohoo!
