Just so there is no misunderstanding...I have no problem with anyone of any nationality living and working in this country. My own husband isn't a US citizen...yet. What I have a problem with are illegals not paying their fair share...and those who come to this country simply to take advantage of the Welfare system here...ooops...that prolly makes me a threat to national security...

I am presently learning Spanish because even in Washington state, one of the whitest states we have, Spanish is becoming useful. Spanish is becoming useful all over this country for that matter. I also wish to visit Spain and a few Latin American countries and/or associated states such as Argentina, Puerto Rico and a few others. Mostly I wish to visit Spain and Puerto Rico.


I believe that the OP said not-so-serious opinions were "allowed". What I provided was a not-so-serious opinion and about 99.9% tongue in cheek. Please do not take it as such.

Sorry...hard to tell sometimes.......there are those who make statements such as you did...who are quite serious...

Yes...many people criticized me for trying to learn Spanish...they should learn our language...we shouldn't have to learn their's...well....yeah...but that doesn't mean I don't still have to converse with them on the job.

I can't tell you how many drive-throughs I've left because the person taking my order couldn't speak English...and I thought of calling my husband who speaks fluent Spanish...even though he's Canadian...and asking him...how do I say fish sandwich and small fries in Spanish (coca cola is the international beverage...so I was good to go there )...and decided I'd just go home and have a PB&J.

And truthfully...yeah...I get a little miffed when people get upset with me because I don't speak Spanish fluently...but I still tried to help them best I could.

Many would laugh though when I said...lo ciento, mi espanole is muy malo. And I thought...what am I saying wrong...I knew malo meant bad...like in nino malo...bad boy....am I saying...my Spanish is misbehaving???

If you want to learn a language that will be really useful in the no so distant future...learn Chinese......they're who will be owning this country in no time at all.
