• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

What if....

In the pro column for Texas seceding, there would finally be a state that would no longer have an illegal immigration problem along the border with Mexico.
cowboypistol.gif

I'm not advocating shooting anyone. Only that Texas would put enough people and enforcement along the border to insure it's secure. Unlike the Feds who are afraid to enforce the illegal immigration laws on the books in fear of offending a large block of voters in the country.

Some of the pros I considered: (based on the Fed just letting us go according to our 10th Amendment Right...no bloody civil war and such)

agriculture

fuel

waterworks

Healthcare facilities

Seaport

Undeveloped land

Lots of liberal thinkers relocating elsewhere

Influx of conservative minded Believers

No more FED income tax

Our tax dollars spent more wisely

Cons:

No FED disaster relief....but that's OK...we handle disaster quite nicely...not many that I know who lost everything during IKE relocated to Louisana permamently. We stayed and are rebuilding.

And if Texas got to keep all the tax dollars we give to the FED...we wouldn't need their money.

Military protection. Well...we got a whole big bunch of rednecks with personal arsenals...^_^ and some of the greatest minds in the country as well...we can develope our own Star Wars program. (and those rednecks...they're not as dumb as many would like to believe either)

Trade...We have a lot of stuff other people want...we could work something out...;)

I say...yeee hawwwww....Let's GO!

You know...I don't consider Texas "wants" to secede from the Union...I think Perry is just trying to send a message to the FED...Some of us (many of us) "We the People" are paying attention...and we don't liiike-it and we're not gonna take much more of this sittin' on our comfy duffs.

Sadly...I don't think the FED cares much

I was thinking that yesterday, but beef and oil? The libs are trying desperately to completely shut down our domestic oil tap and buy oil from countries that push those funds to terrorist activities. Unless Texas builds a state of the art al Qaeda training facility, don't think the oil will be accepted, sorry. Beef eating offends Hindu's, don't think that will be allowed in the US for much longer as we push further for the one world religion accepting all other faiths but our own :(

At least the Dallas Cowboys & Houston Oilers..er Texans will be out of the NFL then..:D
The NFL has a rule against that? MLB seems to allow Canadians to play… I always figured that Canadians just didn't know how to play football... other than that version with that funny round ball.

Well...alrighty then...more for us....;)

What do we really need from anyone else? I'm tryin' hard to think...ummm...nope...nuttin' I can think of...^_^

But...the FED really does want what we have though...'specially all those BIG tax dollars...lots of people workin' for a livin' here...

I personally could do without a lot of what I have...if I could still breathe that fresh air of freedom.

Actually...I'd prolly prefer it. livin' off the land...no tv...no cell phone...no puter...and it wouldn't be the first time in my life I chopped wood to keep warm and pumped water from a well in the back yard.

Potatoes maybe? Baked potato to go with all that steak ^_^
Maybe Idaho will follow suit. I mean you have the steak and sour cream, Idaho the potatoes, now we would just need salt, pepper and chives. I think between Texas and Idaho (which I'd pick to live in), we could have a pretty good BBQ while the US mass produces Soylent Green for itself. :p;):D

where do yams come from? we like baked yams with butter and cinnamon with our steaks just as well.

Hey ho...Idaho can join us...as I think there are several more states that just might feel the same way. We can start our own co-op!

Yeah...Chuck Heston wouldn't put up with this crap for a New York minute!

There's another fellow Dem defector such as myself.

One of the cooks at work and I were discussing this. We felt it would be better if Texas returned to Mexico should Texas secede in any way, shape or form.

Why should we do that...when we already fought that battle and to this day...still support a rather large portion of Mexico?

I wonder what would happen...if all the Mexicans that live here...and do business here and send the $$ back to Mexico....that do not pay taxes here went back to Mexico and stayed there...hmmm?

Ya know...I worked in restaurants most of my life...and it was always a pretty scary day for many cooks and dishwashers when INS showed up. Man...the back door flew open right quick.

Don't get me wrong...I have no problem with the Mexican people...I'd like it if they would learn the language...but hey...we can't have everything now can we?

I learned Spanish...why...because the cooks that worked on Sunday didn't speak English...or...they pretended not to speak English...

The very first thing I learned in Spanish...was "donde esta mi pojo para sopa de pojo por favor"...

'cause we got our chicken for the chicken soup from the cooks to add to the broth and veggies in the soup warmer.

Don't even get me started on the MANY jobs I didn't quailify for because I'm not fluent enough in SPANISH.

We don't have to go back to Mexico...there's pleanty of Mexico right here in the good ole State of Texas and the rest of the US of A.

And I would love to hear more of your wisdom in another 30 years young sir. I know my values have changed quite a bit from when I was 19.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion...for now...and as long as your opinion stays in line with the FED...you should be OK for a long, long time.

Just so there is no misunderstanding...I have no problem with anyone of any nationality living and working in this country. My own husband isn't a US citizen...yet. What I have a problem with are illegals not paying their fair share...and those who come to this country simply to take advantage of the Welfare system here...ooops...that prolly makes me a threat to national security...

Oh my Secundulus, that Sweet home alabama was Hilarious! I'll have to show my husband that, he's quite the red army choir fan...

But I don't really get communist rednecks? Lenningrad cowboys? And whats with the zoot suits and elvis hair? I just loved the accent in 'Alabahma'!

Oh, right, and as for the actual topic at hand, interesting!
