No my philosophies would most likely stay intact.
Remember how savage Indians were Christianized in south and north America by people who came from far away alien lands? Same thing could happen when space aliens visit Earth.

It's interesting that there is NO mention of extra-terrestrial life in any of our so called holy books!

Could it be because are religions are man-made constructs and the primitive men who created these religions thought the Earth was flat and saw the sky as a solid dome and could not even imagine what lay beyond our tiny planet?

This is a very interesting question but the responses to it are even more interesting.

To me it seems almost impossible that there would be no such thing as intelligent life on other planets. If they're out there then obviously they would be part of the same grand scheme as us and would have been visited by Messengers of God at various stages in their development.

I'm loving this thread, and I thought I'd just jump in!

I believe it might have been Carl Sagan that hypothesized that if and when we make contact with life from another planet, the chances that we will even be able to comminicate with the ET life on any meaningful level is infinitesimal. The life form will either be vastly vastly more advanced than us, and may very well consider us of little more importance than insects. Or, more likely, when we discover ET life, it will be in the form of very basic organisms not dissimilar to our bacteria.

Even this second scenario would quite likely count as the single most important discovery in the history of mankind.

Some individuals may be surprised that what we call "aliens" - beings seemingly from another world - are mentioned in the holy bible. It should be clarified, though, that the beings spoken of do not fit into the classic, pop culture image of "aliens", but rather fit into a classification of multidimensional beings, and NOT aliens from a far away galaxy. Christians would call them demons.

Without going into extensive detail, Genesis chapter 6 tells us about the "sons of god" (which translates to elohiym, or angels), who chose to come to earth, and "took them wives of all which they chose". These beings copulated with the women, who in turn gave birth to giants, or Nephillim. Of course we all know the story of Noah, and his family who remained "pure", apparently un-touched by the fallen angels. The earth was flooded by God to destroy the corrupted earth. The book of Jude speaks of these fallen angels, saying "And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day."

Other books of the bible mentioning the Nephillim (the offspring of the un-natural combining of the fallen angels and women of the earth) include the book of Samuel, which describes a great battle in Gath against the giants.

"And there was again a battle in Gob with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaare-oregim, a Bethlehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam. And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of great stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant."

I invite you to take a look at a presentation by Chuck Missler, and Mark Eastman. You may either watch the videos, or listen to the audio. (link)

Christians especially - take note, this issue is most likely the single most important subject you will study.

What happens if there is "contact" with "aliens"?

From a Christian standpoint - and knowing about the true nature of these beings - my faith would not be impacted. Christians and non-Christians alike, you need to study this area. Many Christians remain wary and stand-offish on this subject largely becuase of a lack of biblical knowledge.
