CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So..I just got a phone call from my brother who is on his way over right now...
He and his girlfriend broke up....
and they live together, which has to make it awkward..and I know that he was darn close to proposing to her..
so ...prayers for him would be great

I could use some prayer in my volunteer work... Both modding here and leading a high school youth group... I really love the things I'm doing and the ways I'm serving right now, I'm happy where I'm at. It's just neither of these things seem to be going well for me. I can't really talk about behind the scenes CF stuff but there's just a lot to be done and I feel a bit overwhelmed and I feel kind of useless, wish I could be doing more. And my youth group has gotten harder and harder. The kids aren't paying attention to lessons at all, kids are "sexting" each other during youth group, cussing each other out, getting into verbal fights, it's just so rough. The leaders are trying all they can to get things back under control but a couple people just keep instigating things and it makes it really tough to reach out to these kids.
So please pray that God will give me guidance and wisdom in the places I volunteer at, so I can be more effective and useful for His glory. Thanks, love you all

I want peace in my heart in regards to the church I go to. Lately I've been turned off by some of the beliefs they hold to. [ie:1. KJV-onlyism & critizing others who don't adhere to that. 2. one set style of worship. (traditional)]
The second doesn't bother me as much as the first. I can always worship God alone with different styles of Christian music. I would feel really guilty leaving this church due to the fact that they've done amazing things for me. But I just don't feel comfortable listening to some of the dogma that goes on there. Right now the Lord is telling me to stay, I believe. I guess I'm asking to please pray that God will give me peace and direction.

unfortunately i can believe that. I think too many people see youth group as nothing more than another babysitting service so they don't have to worry about their teens being out causing trouble. Thats one reeason why the youth pastor at my old church made a point of getting up one Sunday and saying he didn't want to see parents forcing their kids to come to youth group if they didn't want to be there because his goal was to create a worshipful atmosphere where kids could learn and fellowship together. you can't force someone to fellowship or grow if he or she really doesn't want to.
i really hope thinks are looking up there.

I just have a quick prayer request. I have a good friend who is having an important doctor's appointment on the 1st; kind of long-overdue stuff. She has been suffering from her symptoms for a long time. Please pray for her diagnosis, treatment, recovery and potential medical bills that may arise. Thank you so much!!!

Pray for me, if you will? In short, I've pretty much been either an outsider or out on the margins of pretty much any social circle I've been in (or near) over the last few years. To say the least, it's very discouraging, more than disheartening, and incredibly isolated.
And please don't give me that Christianese about how God just "wants me for Himself."
