Do you not get the term? It's the media being split up into partisan rags. It's Breitbart on one end, and Buzzfeed on the other. In terms of GG, it was the target of a mass smear campaign by SJW-rags and technologically illiterate mainstream media that took the words of Brianna Wu, Arthur Chu, Randi Harper at face value.

It's the gaming media all coming together to try and playing host to ideologues who write in support of fundamentally changing gaming and gaming culture. Jack Thompson tried to do it through the courts, these guys try to do it through culture, and they are fundamentally out of step with the gaming audience.

Anita Sarkeesian, if you examine what she wants, has extremely puritanical views not that dissimilar from Jack Thompson.

The point is that her views are what you get with Brianna Wu, Arthur Chu, Josh McIntosh. They're very mainstream in the audiences that presume to wish to direct gaming and they don't really tolerate dissent. GG exists, in part, as a platform to argue against those views.

No, it wasn't about journalism. It claimed to be about journalism, but it wasn't really about journalism. If it had been about journalism, it would have gone after people in the industry who actually matter, not a bunch of nobodies who still don't matter outside the context of GG.
