I figure regional accents account for it. Jane, Jean, John are all essentially the same word.

My husband looked up my name as soon as he met me. Being a pastor and all he thought he knew what it meant and had told me it meant 'noose'. I disagreed quite heartily (not realizing that my husband to be was rather schooled in Hebrew) and told him it meant 'captivating'. Talk about putting the best spin on things!

He gets all he needs of this place from me! I'm CONSTANTLY asking him stuff and getting dissertations from him on subjects that come up.

He readily admits that Rebecca was a good name for me...not only am I captivating, but I've trapped him good.

My wife tells me there is a difference between a bush and a shrub but I don't see it...

Get this...I looked up the definitions and this is what I got:

I guess they can't figure out what the difference is either...

My maiden name is Bush and Shrub was an endearing nickname I had during high school.

My given name means rose as thats what it is. I always hated it, so old fashioned. I was named after one of my fathers sisters. His other sisters are Agnes and Bertha.
So I was kindof lucky.
But I am going to legally change it in the future, and then it will mean fathers joy.
