Is it possible that there can be more than 3 parts of God or infinite and not 3? Also so it does not matter how many components are there in One God, they are still One God?
It seems during the Gospel that the Father is greater, and the Spirit that was to come. But this is because as in Philippians 2, Jesus was emptied of the appearance of glory to walk among us, like one one of us, and rely on the Father, to set the example for us. Once Jesus was glorified He was back to His glorious self. Satan sought to be equal with God, Jesus didn't count equality as something to be grasped, for our sake. But arent they different? Also who is most powerful among them? Jesus depicts father as most powerful
Yes its three persons. Glad u view it that wayIf there were more than three persons of the trinity it would have been revealed already.
The Trinity is one God.
Are they distinct? The Trinity has always been described as three persons.
Do all of them have same knowledge at all times? They co-exist, among the last heresies corrected by the elders in the centre of the ancient church, was modalism. Some thought God was one person, who at times used a mode of appearing as the Father and sometimes the Son and sometimes the Holy Spirit. It was corrected and Bishop Augustine wrote Dei Trinitate. So God has faces, panim. They are one relational being. Three distinct persons, always and uncreated, self existent, always love, who made us to see His face, and relate, filled with that love which defines them, by the Spirit of Love.
The Bible says God thought about each one of us from the foundation of the world, and that His thoughts about each one, outnumber the grains of sand along the sea shore. Before you do anything, God loves you, and starts a relationship. You can't find Him on your own.
Why did jesus himself not clearly say he is God?As in Philippians 2, the Son did not count equality with God something to be grasped, He was emptied in trust. He came to live humbly like a servant and said in His Earthly ministry that He did not know the day or hour of the judgement. But now He would, or the Father knows but the other two don't under some agreement, but probably they all know. They keep it secret from us.
Like the spirit of a man knows his mind and everything about him, so the Spirit searches the Father and knows all things.
So u mean one in harmony not one distinct person? The the three persons, having the meaning of "personas", are distinct, yet one. As in the example I gave of the atom.
The problem with the atom analogy is that the parts are not atoms as you say. Where in Christianity the three parts are god as well. This violates the laws of logic specifically the law on non contradiction. That god is three persons and one person at the same time. The the three persons, having the meaning of "personas", are distinct, yet one. As in the example I gave of the atom.
Christians often say that God is one and not more than one but as i understand it is it mostly means One family of Gods not One God as there are three distinct deities not one God but three gods. Please explain. If ur example is similar to one i said above please dont post your answer as ive been through this justification many times
I don't think the Trinity is about the number three. But it had to include both the Father and Son, and the Holy Spirit was a prominent enough mode of God's presence that it was pretty obvious to include it. It's hard to see what else would be included. Is it possible that there can be more than 3 parts of God or infinite and not 3? Also so it does not matter how many components are there in One God, they are still One God?
Remember, in the west it's one will and one three-fold consciousness. Obviously yes. But be careful about applying this to the human Jesus. That involves not just the Trinity but the Incarnation. The eternal Logos, the Son in eternity, is equal to the Father. But his human form is finite and obviously mortal.Do all of them have same knowledge at all times?
It's three persons and one person only if you use different definitions of person. The problem with the atom analogy is that the parts are not atoms as you say. Where in Christianity the three parts are god as well. This violates the laws of logic specifically the law on non contradiction. That god is three persons and one person at the same time.
