what, that you're mistaken? Thanks for the QED.
What if it was Satan pulling a fast one to stop us all finding out what God did through and from his creation directly? If I was the Devil, I'd be going out of my way to convince all God's faithful to ignore the evidence from God's creation and just believe the written word of fallible men whom I'd be easily able to manipulate to my own ends...Jeremiah 6:16 Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
Satan isn't smart enough to have written the Bible, and he's not powerful enough to have preserved It through the ages. What if it was Satan pulling a fast one to stop us all finding out what God did through and from his creation directly?
But you are not learning new things.Oh, the irony of criticizing the quest for knowledge by posting on the Internet.
Also, what is it with fundamentalist views and this idea that learning new things is a weakness? Never understood that.
But you are not learning new things.
You keep on having to change the narrative because "new things"
keep discrediting your previous lies.
How do you know that? Besides, he wouldn't have to "write" the bible, or preserve it either for that matter, He'd only have to taint it with contradictions, or change a few phrases here and there even if they didn't contradict to achieve that goal - then followers of the Torah, then Bible, then Qur'An would preserve the word throughout the ages without him having to do anything if he didn't want to...Satan isn't smart enough to have written the Bible, and he's not powerful enough to have preserved It through the ages.
Let's end this charade right now, shall we?How do you know that?
No. Why do you believe what you believe? You seem to think that reality is fake and your imagination is real. That's the sort of thinking that is dangerous for everyone around you. I am genuinely interested in how you come to your beliefs, what epistemology do you use to come to a fact, and how do you know you're not just a wilful party to your own fantasy?Let's end this charade right now, shall we?
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.Why do you believe what you believe?
but Why are you taking the bible at its word? How did you take this position in the first place before you believed? This could also be read as "What if you were given the Torah or Qur'An as your ultimate authority instead", would you have just believed either of those at face value too?Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
A deception is a deception.
A house of cards built on the sand.
And like all narratives built on a lie it requires more deception
to keep up its credibility.
If you want to put your faith in a lie; a great deception, then your choice.
A deception is a deception.
A house of cards built on the sand.
And like all narratives built on a lie it requires more deception
to keep up its credibility.
1 Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.but Why are you taking the bible at its word?
I went to church, the Bible was preached, I instinctively responded to the altar call, and Jesus saved me.How did you take this position in the first place before you believed?
This is what I don't think you understand:This could also be read as "What if you were given the Torah or Qur'An as your ultimate authority instead", would you have just believed either of those at face value too?
Not sure how you're missing the point - Before you get to believing the Bible or what someone else who already believes in the Bible says, why would you believe what the bible has to say in the first place?1 Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.I went to church, the Bible was preached, I instinctively responded to the altar call, and Jesus saved me.This is what I don't think you understand:
Hebrews 4:12a For the word of God is quick,
If you learn what that means, hopefully you'll realize it means that the Bible is a live Book that speaks to Its hearers.
As I said, call it a sixth sense, call it ESP, call it telepathy, call it an impression on my engrams, call it what you want. Not sure how you're missing the point - Before you get to believing the Bible or what someone else who already believes in the Bible says, why would you believe what the bible has to say in the first place?
so, exactly the same reason given by all the other believers of all the other religions then. Got it.As I said, call it a sixth sense, call it ESP, call it telepathy, call it an impression on my engrams, call it what you want.
I prefer to call it "getting under conviction."
Beats me. Is that what they all say?so, exactly the same reason given by all the other believers of all the other religions then.
Aren't you academians supposed to investigate this stuff on your own?Bugeyedcreepy said:Got it.
I've been to a few churches now, and I imagine I'll be along to a few more before this body gets too weary. Any scientific endeavour should continue to be tested, so yes, I do investigate this stuff when time permits (my kids go to a christian private school even, so I sometimes go to their church events too). You are another datapoint in my investigation, because any investigation worth its salt includes all of the evidence, not cherry-picked bits that agree with a predisposition.Beats me. Is that what they all say?
Aren't you academians supposed to investigate this stuff on your own?
You know ... like going to church and seeing for yourself and all?
Or is that too much work?
But on the other hand, not all scientific methodists do field work, either.
