It means that, as an unbeliever, you have a nature that is sinful. It means that because Adam sinned, this caused a " lost position".., where he was no longer connected to God, spiritually.
And all who were born since Adam, have this same situation... this same spiritual condition.

Our nature, is our spiritual condition... and its UNRIGHTEOUS.
We have a dead spirit, ... dead in the sense that is not a part of God's HOLY Spirit.
God is "A" Spirit.....= Holy Spirit.
We are not holy, we are sinful, sinners, and lost. "Lost" means we are disconnected from the Holy Spirit of God.
How is this resolved? God gives us His Righteousness, and it becomes OURS.
"we are made the righteousness of GOD = IN CHRIST".
"The Gift of Righteousness".

Through our FAITH .... God BIRTHS our spirit into His, and we become "ONE" with God and Christ.
How does this happen? Thru the power of the Holy Spirit.... God literally puts His Righteousness in us, and we become it, and this creates a BIRTH in our Spirit, that connects us to God's Spirit. = Born again.
This is the "new birth", or the 2nd Birth, which creates us as a "new Creation" "In Christ".
This is how we are born again. = Jesus said : "You must be born again". John 3

What causes it?
"all that call on the name of Jesus, shall be SAVED". "Saved" means, justified in God's sight.
It means that the blood of Jesus is applied to us, which gives us a complete forgiveness that is eternal.
It causes us to be at peace with God, and it forever redeems us back into God's family.

Good Day, Behold

The cause is God and His will to rebirth them by His Spirit.

who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

And cause us to walk in his ways and obey his stautes:

Eze 36:26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.

He alone is the only sufficient cause, and we live out His purposed direct effects of His actions.

In Him

Through the Sacrament of Baptism we are born of God, though dead in our trespasses we have been made alive to God by His grace.

It doesn't need to be anymore complicated than what Scripture itself already says.

I believe instead of birthing our spirit into God. He births His spirit (Holy Spirit of Everlasting life) into us.

He births us into Himself...> This is why we are "ONE" with God.
This birth puts us INTO "the Kingdom of God" which is a spiritual Kingdom.
We have been "translated from darkness to Light.
So, all of that and more is related to us being BIRTHED INTO something... Spiritual.
From this, they dwell in us. "Christ in us the hope of Glory".. "We are the temple of the Holy Spirit', ect.

Hey Bill.

God does not concern himself with us keeping "statutes", as we are "not under the law, but under Grace".

Try to see Salvation from the perspective of the NT, where Jesus is found and the born again should be found studying.

If water can wash away sin, then we'd all be saved every time we took a shower.
So, really?
c'mon, ViaCrucis....

Was the dying Thief who was with Jesus after he died, water baptized on the Cross?
Maybe one of the Roman Officers sprayed him down with a garden hose after he was born again?
No?
Thats also what i thought.

There is a very corrupt bible that says, that a person is born again by/of water.
Do not read that bible, and certainly do not believe it.

Jesus shed blood and offered a BODY, as our redemption. He then was raised from the dead to prove its all TRUE.
Our= "Faith is counted as Righteousness".

Jesus became our sin and we become Jesus's RIGHTEOUSNESS.

= "The GIFT of Salvation"

Nobody said water can wash away sin. But since in Baptism we die, are buried with, and raise with Christ to newness of life (Romans 6:3-4), and clothes us with Jesus Christ (Galatians 3:27), and is the washing of water with the word (Ephesians 5:26) then we can confidently say that Baptism isn't just water, but rather God's word comprehended in and connected to the water. Water can't do anything, but God's word absolutely can; after all, "I am not ashamed of the Gospel for it is the power of God to save all who believe, the Jew first and also the Gentile".

Was the dying Thief who was with Jesus after he died, water baptized on the Cross?
Maybe one of the Roman Officers sprayed him down with a garden hose after he was born again?
No?
Thats also what i thought.

Christ said, "Today you will be with Me in Paradise." The word of God, the same word that is ours in Baptism, was for the thief here. It's the same saving word.

There is a very corrupt bible that says, that a person is born again by/of water.
Do not read that bible, and certainly do not believe it.

That's John 3:5. Are you saying not to trust any Bible that contains John 3:5?

Jesus shed blood and offered a BODY, as our redemption. He then was raised from the dead to prove its all TRUE.
Our= "Faith is counted as Righteousness".

How do I get faith?

Jesus became our sin and we become Jesus's RIGHTEOUSNESS.

= "The GIFT of Salvation"

Yes, and God does this through His Word and Sacraments, that's what Scripture teaches. We have been been saved not by works of righteousness which we have done, but by the washing of regeneration and the renewal of the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5).

Interesting, in Bible it goes like this:

But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God's children, to those who believe in his name: who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
John 1:12-13

It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life.
John 6:63

He who does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was revealed, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever is born of God doesn't commit sin, because his seed remains in him; and he can't sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are revealed, and the children of the devil. Whoever doesn't do righteousness is not of God, neither is he who doesn't love his brother.

You have any scriptures stating this, i would be interested in finding out.

And i am not talking about being born into the family of God, I know that is true.

Thats a spiritual baptism that you are confusing with the city water system supplied in a man-made tank.
You are not understanding that our "old man" is crucified with Christ and we are raised as a "new creation".
This is being born again, that is the spiritual baptism.

Also, are you familiar with the New Testament?
Have you heard of the Apostle Paul?
Well, this Apostle did more then just write 73% of the New Testament. He also gave to the body of Christ 99% of the "doctrine of the Church", including how to choose a pastor, how to treat your wife, how to understand the "9 Spiritual Gifts". He is also completely responsible for our understanding of the "Blood Atonement" , "justification by faith", and everything that is related to understanding "Salvation". "Grace", and "the Gift of Righteousness.

IN 2nd Peter, .. Peter, who had access to Paul's letters, that became the NT, said at that time that Paul's letters were SCRIPTURE. They were equal to the TORAH. And that is an Apostle talking about another Apostle's letters 2000 yrs ago. And these same became 73% of the NT and 99% of the Church Doctrine.
So, ViaCrucis, are you following me ?
What is my point?

Paul said this...."Christ sent me NOT TO WATER BAPTIZE".

So, how is it, that this apostle, who wrote most of the NT and everything we understand regarding the CROSS= does not accept your Theology of "water saves" "water regenerates".
Do you think Paul has it wrong?
= Better rethink your position.

Interesting, in Bible it goes like this:

He who does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

See this verse ? This verse says that if you do good works you are "righteous".
So, we know this is not true, as "all our works are FILTHY RAGs".
We know that "not by works that we have done but according to God's MERCY He saved us".
We know...>"Grace through faith" without works, is how God offers "the GIFT of Righteousness".

See, you can't just blindly quote verses, 1213. You have to use scriptures to give context to other scriptures.

Salvation is a GIFT. "not of WORKS Lest any person will boast"

I don't know what a "spiritual baptism" is. Do you mean the "baptism with the Holy Spirit" perhaps? If you do, then I would encourage you to read what the Scriptures say about it. Namely this: That the baptism with the Holy Spirit is what happened on the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was poured out.

No, it's not "spiritual baptism" that I'm talking about, I'm talking about Baptism. Though Baptism is most certainly Spiritual, for in it is the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38 and 1 Corinthians 12:13)

I am amused by your insinuation, but rather than toot my own horn instead I'll simply leave you with this:

"I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment. For it has been reported to me by Chloe's people that there is quarreling among you, my brothers. What I mean is that each one of you says, 'I follow Paul,' or 'I follow Apollos,' or 'I follow Cephas', or 'I follow Christ.' Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, so that no one may say that you were baptized in my name. (I did baptize also the household of Stephanus. Beyond that, I do not know whether I baptized anyone else.) For Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the Gospel, and not with words of eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power." - 1 Corinthians 1:10-17

Why do you think Paul says what he says there? Because Baptism doesn't matter? Or perhaps another reason, a reason he explains right there in the passage.

Now I'm not hand holding you here, but if you need it pointed out, I'm willing to do so. But I'm hoping that it should be obvious enough to you simply by reading the text honestly.

I didn't ask you that. I asked you what else does it say...

What else does what say?
The verse?
The verse teaches that you are born on earth, and your mother's water breaks, and this is "born of water", on earth, pregnancy......natural birth.
Then Jesus says that you must have a 2nd birth.....a Spiritual Birth. BORN AGAIN.
"you must be BORN AGAIN">
