Weinstein is highly sincere. He is concerned that the current incarnation of Republicans and Democrats are damaging the republic. I agree with his assessment; I just am not sure his plan would work. I do love the shake-up of the idea.

This plan would pull voters from the left and the right. Maybe!

That's the point. People are sick of Republican and Democrat bickering. The idea is to elect two patriots that will govern in the middle together. Watch the video --it explains the administrative structure.

I like the idea, mostly because we can't survive on the extremes. The idea seems to encourage a kind of consensus, which I think we sorely need. The idea of drafting people is interesting. How do we get quality people in these offices? I don't know, but it's good to see someone thinking outside of this box we're in.

If they don't agree on an issue, people will only see the guy that is against their own viewpoint and will get turned away by that.

People don't vote for the best candidate. They vote for the lesser of two evils.

Try to think about this logically. If you are really passionate about one issue and you vote on that to the exclusion of anything else, and you have one pair who champions your issue, one pair who is against your issue and one pair who is in the middle, who would you vote for?

I don't know if it would work, but I would rather support this idea than continue down the unkept road were are currently on.

In such a case, the president would have administrative authority. But the general idea is that the two individuals drafted as president and Vice President would be those who highly valued non-partisanship and were not party-reliant. One would be center-left, and one center-right. After one term (if re-elected), they would switch roles.

The Details of the Dark Horse Duo Plan
Here are the features of the plan as Bret Weinstein explained them to Joe Rogan during the podcast interview.

1. America drafts two individuals to serve as president and vice president. Politically, one of the individuals is center left, the other is center right.
2. These two individuals must have these minimum set of characteristics: they must be A) patriotic, B) courageous, and C) highly capable.
3. These two individuals will govern together as a TEAM. All decisions will be made as a team. (Only extremely time sensitive decisions will fall to the person who has inhabited the role of President.)
4. After four years, the team will swap roles. The president becomes vice-president, and vice versa. They continue this way until A) someone new is voted into office, or B) one of the individuals has inhabited the role of president twice, and now must be replaced.

Pretty bad--are you suggesting this plan would be a catalyst for his re-election? That is possible. It happened with Ross Perot in the '90s. But the fact is that the American political system is broken--it elected Trump and will likely pendulum swing back to a radical leftist. We need patriots and moderation. Who has a better plan?
