I haven’t listened to Joel very much but as far as his prosperity and his multi million dollar home I don’t think we should judge the man simply on that. If God has seen fit to bless him then so be it. We don’t know the percentage that actually goes to him personally compared to the percentage that goes to helping others so we shouldn’t ridicule the man without knowing all the facts.

Prosperity is not something we need to pursue, Jesus is our pursuit. Solomon rejected prosperity and sought wisdom instead. That delighted the Lord so much, that he gave him both wisdom and prosperity.

Perhaps God has blessed brother Joel in the same way as Solomon.

A little of wisdom difference going on there.

Joel's message is a very weak watered-down message most would not even call it the gospel message.

Guys, let's not forget that we are not their judge, that is God. They have their way of doing things and though we may disagree with how they feel, what they do with what the Lord has blessed their ministries with is their own business that they will have to answer to God for.

I respect your reply brother but I would like to kindly point out that we are to judge those in the Church. We are not to judge those outside of the church but I do understand your point. It is a delicate matter judging those in the church and should be done with compassion and encouragement. I don’t think that rudeness and ridicule are necessary to correct our brothers & sisters in most cases. I definitely think it should not be our first reaction. I think simply quoting the scriptures that deal with their mistakes should be sufficient. I believe in just planting seeds and giving them time to grow. Unpleasant arguments can often cause a defensive reaction in the person we’re trying to correct which can harden their heart and strengthen them in their current position even more. :)

I believe what you say could be true but I still think the Holy Spirit can still use people like this to reach certain people who would otherwise reject a more direct teaching. Perhaps the Holy Spirit can use brother Joel to spark the fire that will lead others to study the scriptures and ultimately to a better understanding of God’s word. I often think that different denominations can in some ways be like a preschool that can later lead to graduating to a more mature understanding of His word.

True and as I have witnessed over my many years a lot of the ones that attend these weaker message churches will leave eventually and end up in more solid teaching and preaching churches.

A little milk before the meat possibly?

Do you think Joel Osteen (and I have no opinion one way or another, so I am not trying to entrap you) sought for wisdom to care for the people of God like Solomon?

I believe he has studied God’s word to spread the gospel so in a way yes.

Thank you BNR32FAN for your comments here. I just copied this quote from John Hagee (yesterday) that may help our critics to be more (understanding), and less critical in what God is doing throughout the world.

"If the Godly will not pay the price to advance my cause , I will give their reward to the ungodly because they were willing to do it." -- John Hagee

I have not read the entire thread therefore I apologise if this has already been asked. Did the Apostles become rich as they travelled and preached as described in Acts? I do not think so.

The problem is that we are in this world and the love of money is a sin. I am not impressed with anyone who travels this path, no matter how good are their works .

Thank you Norman for your comments. We here at Word of Faith forum would fully agree with you here. I believe Judas fits your description. Key Word: (Love of money)

I would agree with this, to a degree... (if) it were being compared to a (not so) gospel of screaming with added fear tactics to their congregation continuously week after week. I would think we ALL know that... "It's the Goodness of God (Romans 2-4) that leads to repentance."

Example....
12136576_f120[1].jpg

"If you don't choose to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior, Your going to "Hell." (See what I mean?)

Oops! M-Bob... I just realized you are a Calvinist and you may not believe in "free will" to choice. Thank you for your fellowship...

I consider myself a 90% calvinist.
Whatever that means?

I know I have free will to sin today but, I'm trying my best not to do it, haven't been up for long.

Have a blessed day Bob

It keeps the sheep in the pen.
