What do you think about (as a christian) listening to Kelly Clarkson???

If we consider ourselves Christians, the most important question to ask is, "What would Jesus do?"

Although Kelly is a Christian, the messages in her song are anything but that.

Another question..Is her music influencing your relationship with Christ in a positive way? I know you can say that's its not influencing it in a negative way, but if you aren't for Christ, you are against him. If something isn't glorifying Christ, who/what is it glorifying?

If you already have convictions about it, which you seem to have..you should listen to the voice of God, no matter how hard it may seem, He only wants the best for you and to bring you closer to Him..

Don't eat the apple, no matter how innocent or unharmful it may "seem."

I pretty much like her music, too. Secular radio is not all bad, and it's not that "God doesn't want us to listen" to it. The question is whether the songs edify and if their message lines up with scripture. For instance, love songs are not bad...people fall in love every day. That's how God designed it.

But love songs about a married man falling in love with a woman who is not his wife; that's bad. Songs about abuse are bad. You get the picture.

90% of Christian music is boring. There's a only handful of Christian artists whose music I can relate to. No one writes song about real **** anymore; only that insipid inspirational trite junk.

I may be wrong, but doesn't the Bible say it is okay to eat food sacrificed to idols only when you didn't know it was sacrificed to an idol? And if you found out it was, you should stop eating it.. ?

If there is moral truth in it, it is glorifying God. A song doesn't have to directly praise God for it to glorify him.

Besides, even if the song doesn't glorify him, it doesn't matter.

There's no such thing as secular music and Christian music. It's just music. Many "secular" artists write songs that convey Truth; some Christian artists water it down. If you don't agree or relate to whatever the artist is saying, don't listen to it and shut up.

dude, read the post, I said its ok to eat the meat unless it would offend other christians and cause them to fall...now of course this isn't an issue now, it was just an example from 3000 years ago.

Its fine to listen to KC, of course it is best not to waist time, but we all waist time to some extent.

I agree with scotty also(for once), but my main point was other than it being a waist of time, there is nothing wrong at all listening to music that is not "christian".

Half the time I'm listening to christian music, I'm not thinking about God. May as well be listening to kelly clarkson or blind guardian or something, cuz I like it more than contemporary christian music.

Just make sure you are focused, don't let music run your life, it is just one of many life experiences
