Amen, You are correct Sir. If it's not in the Word then it can't stand. That is how we are to test the spirits. I to fear the biblical truth is being dropped in area churches. This worries me greatly.
I love everyone and we welcome all, however I refuse to "water" down the bible because I have to stand before God one day and give account. I don't wanna say I refused to share the truth simply because I didn't want to offend anyone.
I tell them the truth and then put my arm around them in love and tell them I will help them and pray with them and love them until the end.
PS we have church shoots around here. We have a big cookout and set up targets and drag out the guns. We have everything imaginable show up. LOL It's loads of fun and teaches the kids safety and respect with a firearm.
Take note of the tear in my eye and sinful jealousy in my countenance my Brother in Christ. I wish we would do that here.

If you ever start one, people will love it. We get a group of volunteers that are to stay right beside the kid as they shoot. Teaching them safety and all that. They shoot one at a time with much instruction and care provided. Most gun stores will donate ammo to these events and also ear plugs etc: I hope your church will consider it sometime.
Those kids loves the 22s and air guns especially and us adults like the big lead slingers :] I got to shoot a 500 mag and loved it. They are a powerhouse.
Just remembered another church below us does this every year and they give prizes to the best groups.
1st place is always a new rifle.
I won one time with my ruger 10/22 . Standing up with no rest or anything, With a 5o yard target. I put 10 rds in a 3 in group offhand. :]

Pardon me while I try something: Does this play in this forum or show a static image, or does it just show the link? What is this, $2.50 each time it goes boom?

Wow, What is the range?
Maybe I should have said, that is not me. I have some other images I wanted to post on my blog and I am just trying to figure out Christian Forums for that. I was testing the ability to put in video, images. That is 1000 yards though. But I was also thinking in a logical way, if we outlawed all but .50 caliber BMG and up we could effectively reduce violence in the schools. Nobody could carry one in their back pack much less a hundred rounds of ammunition. I hope that doesn't mean I am making fun of the tragedies, but if they can show up in Washington with concerts and all, I can say something about a way to stop it that is just as ludicrous.

I thought it was the Ben Avery 1000yd range outside of Phoenix at first. Same targets and system.

But they didn't have covered shooting benches last time I was competing there in 2011 or so...

And I was using a rifle with a bit less technology behind it...

Hey, I really like the old guns which have been resurrected and are able to shoot along side the Modern Sport Rifles. I have folks complain about their gun when shooting but I show them these example I made up that even airguns are subject to the same effects we see in choices of bullets. In this case it is pellets but it can be this dramatic of a change. So, before they dump that new carry weapon back on the market try changing the bullets and bench shooting and see if there is a difference.

I've been seeing that these new air rifles are a lot faster than a standard 22lr. I love to squirrel hunt and one with a suppressor might be just the ticket :]

Is that a sharps?

Yes. In .45-90 govt. It is my dad's rifle and one of over a dozen such rifles he owns. I had to use it for the 1000yd match since my .45-70 Winchester high wall lacked the oomph to compete.

I used my rifle for silhouette matches that knock down steel silhouettes at up to 525yds. Since moving up here from Arizona, I haven't been to a match and my rifle sits neglected.

It was a hoot to shoot those rifles. The rules stipulated the use of black powder and no modern conveniences. Hitting a target at 1000yds with a 133yr old design and ammunition in which I cast the bullets and crafted myself is a unique experience.

This is my rifle...

Love It. Wow that is a beauty. It's good you reload, those 45-90s are kinda high and hard to get aren't they?

I've never bought .45-70 or .45-90 ammo; just the components for reloading. I checked the website for the company my dad supplies cast bullets to and their black powder match ammo runs around $38 for 20 rounds. Not bad and about what a quality magnum hunting round costs.

The .45-90 and .45-100 rounds are a bit more at around $57 to $70 for 20. Since I went through around 60 rounds per match, that adds up quickly for a weekend of fun.

I have never had the opportunity to sight through a scope like that but I always wondered what it looked like. I can imagine there is not a lot of light gathering (I used to be the Machine shop foreman for Burris Rifle Scopes) so they would probably not be a good dusk/dawn scope. But, for example, what can you see at a distance of something like 500 yards if looking at an elk?

There are a lot of new PCP rifles on the market now so the price is coming down a little. As for squirrel and rabbit, nuisance birds and such a scoped break action .22 or .25 rifle of about 100.00 - 250.00 with nitro cylinder will get you a good shooter at about 30 yards. If you are serious about shooting with them I would practice shooting level and then up at the angle you might shoot for squirrel and bird. Check Youtube online and see the types of scopes that will help you stay consistent with distance changes. If you want to go further that 30 yards and for bigger game then take a look at the pre-charged pneumatics. They can get you up to .50 caliber and some have even been approved for thin skinned deer so that will tell you the kind of power you are dealing with on them. Just be aware that developing 3000psi for a PCP in the field is not cheap nor easy. Most serious hunters will carry pony tanks or diving tanks to charge their guns at camp then be very judicious with their shots. Just do your homework and remember that as stewards of these lands and animals we have a God given duty to be ethical and humane.
