When everytime your in a relationship you realise your in it for the wrong reasons, even when you've set out trying to do it or thinking you are doing it for the right reasons?:(

Reason? I broke up with my most recent gf last week. Why? because, as much as i started it THINKING God was leadind me into it i discoevered i REALLY was doing it just to have a gf. This makes me feel AWEFUL! and i dont know if i can trust myself to go into another relationship, as im just afraid of doing it all over again. Its not that i have one planned, im gonna stay single for a while, but qwhen the opportunity comes what do i do, how will i know to go through with it?:(

It's really mature of you to realize that you were doing it just to have a girlfriend.

I would say definately take a break from dating for awhile (like you already said you were going to do). Use this time to really get close to God. You might try reading some books on Christian dating. Josh Harris's I Kissed Dating Goodbye has some good principles in it that will help you understand that when you're dating just to be dating, you can really potentially hurt the other person.

Best of luck to you. :)

I have to agree with Jen..that's pretty mature. There are people who are in their 40s and 50s who haven't even begun to understand that lesson yet, so the fact, that you recognize now, is awesome.

As for doing it over again...you might. We're human and we fail sometimes. But I suspect, because I was in the same boat for awhile, that you're growing from this situation and you will learn to recognize this misfire again if it presents itself. I think that as we grow older and recognize problems we have within ourselves, we become closer to learning how to correct then. I would definitely, as Jenptcfan said, use the time to get closer to God. You've already opened your heart for the correction, He'll take care of the rest.

:)
