  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What do you do?

Hello Elevation, I can understand that, it does get so lonely. We live in the country so we don't have close neighbors. I guess when I get lonely I just put everything I have into my children and my grandchild. But to keep busy is important for me, now I'm redecorating the house, I have my oil painting and other things to keep me busy. It's the times that I just sit outside and watch the clouds go by or listen to the birds sing that I realize just how alone I am, but it brings peace and comfort too. I'm praying for you. God bless you.

Thanks again countrylady. i've lived in the country before. it drove me crazy. I love the air force base....best neighborhood. Everyone is friendly, everyone's in the same boat, the women with deployed husbands can support eachother, lots of kids around, etc. it's just nice there. in the country, things are too spread apart. it's too quiet. i'm not really desirous of the city either.....just a happy medium.

I was wondering what you do when you miss your loved one.

I was given a paper by the hospice program after my loss. It said to start out eating a favorite food, go for a walk, visit family, visit an elderly person from church, do volunteer work, do something to get out of the house for a little while, write in a journal, and other things. I lost alot of weight, my family became so worried... I soon realized that I needed to take care of me, for my children sake. So I started out eating a favorite food, and writing in a journal that I kept in the bedroom. When I missed him so much I would have that favorite treat and take time to write my feelings down, the good memories too. I didn't realized how much it helped at first, but it became a part of my life, I still enjoy eating that special food when I'm down. We all need special treats in our life, they can make us feel good.
When the "missing him" feeling really hits me hard - I go seek out my sons. Each one of them have a distinct characteristic of their father. He really didn't leave me at all - he carries on in our children. I am really grateful for that. I feel my mission now is to continue raising these boys to be Godly men. Take care, Mare
