Yes. I'm sure. Because the real issue here is exacting semantic correctness, not, you know, people killing other people.Well, I'm sure someone is going to bring up that technically a rifle with a bump stock is not an automatic weapon.
Or Orlando? Or San Bernardino? Or Columbine? Or Newtown?
Political action? Legal action? Social action? Personal action?
Or should we even bother? Do we simply resign ourselves to going through these motions again in another 6 months or so? Or are we counting on these kinds of incidents to just go away?
Thoughts?
Actually, they have quite a bit.Nope, never. That's why our laws concerning firearms and other weapons haven't changed in over 200 years. /s
I disagree that prayer is an empty gesture we can always use prayer and should always pray for those affected. Now, that does not mean that action should not be taken, as well It is a both/and not either/or.With the current division in the U.S. at critical mass, I honestly don't see how any change can happen now. The divisions are too deep.
Gun regulation is too ingrained in political identity now and it appears that most folks in the U.S. are far, far too entrenched in their own political identity that there is no room for compromise.
It is a shame, because in times like the other night, nothing can be done but sweep up the mess, get rid of the blood, bury the bodies and wait for it to happen again. And it will happen again.
Sorry, but prayer at this point is an empty gesture. Prayer hasn't been in short supply; action, on the other hand, has been.
Not in this particular case, but in a number of other cases. You will always have issues, but what you can do is disagree them in number.I agree with your post. But it doesn't appear at this time that in this particular case it would have made a difference. This guy wasn't strapped for cash, he hadn't had problems with law enforcement, etc.
What sort of penalties do you suggest? I believe it is more about TEACHING gun safety than anything. I mean guns do no good locked up, so it would be important to teach kids the seriousness of guns. What do you mean child? That could be two that could be 12 in most states that could be 17.Yes, many states have adopted much stricter gun laws, such as my state did several yrs. ago. Some people were really upset by it too, we're rednecks a'know. But more of us saw it as the moral thing to do.
I do think there should be tougher consequences for parents who leave guns where kids can get to them.
Nah, let's just keep things as they are and hope that the next time this happens there will be a good guy with a gun to stop him.Quite a few people since, you know, several dozen people were just mowed down at a concert, and it is becoming a more common problem. I think this at least warrants an honest discussion.
One thing and I know I will take heat for this but NO gun-free zones.
Actually for most in this country it is a RIGHT.Owning a firearm is a luxury. Would I be frustrated? Sure. Would I lose sleep over it? Not a wink.
Prayer is most often an empty gesture on earth.I disagree that prayer is an empty gesture we can always use prayer and should always pray for those affected. Now, that does not mean that action should not be taken, as well It is a both/and not either/or.
Is what OK The shootings of Jews, or the banning of guns? How strictly do you define that? My synagogue bans guns because of numerous attacks Jews have been subject to throughout the years. Is that ok?
and when they choose to do so you can get it thrown out of court.Cops don't ask if we have guns or not. They just raid our homes and belongings. And take the guns.
Everyone needs Jesus.
(the so-called peace movement? wasn't it involved with a lot of drugs, sex, and other sin ? )
I met two people recently , who were in a city in Kansas last year,How strictly do you define that? My synagogue bans guns because of numerous attacks Jews have been subject to throughout the years. Is that ok?
sometimes.and when they choose to do so you can get it thrown out of court.
How will that do any good if someone gets a gun illegally? This could be because they stole the gun for the event or that they had already stolen or been given the gun at a prior time.Federal Backround Checks.
The banning of guns. If I had to honestly ask you if shooting Jews was ok, I think we'd already just be at the point I didn't speak to you.Is what OK The shootings of Jews, or the banning of guns?
