• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

How does the CP affect your daily life?

I'm pretty much deaf on one ear and HOH on the other, but I don't normally have a problem with it. But it helps working with deaf and otherwis disabled people. I learn to read lips better, not to mention the fact that it becomes impossible to feel sorry for oneself when you work with disabled people.

...and some unamed mental disability which prevents me from doing more than one or two things at a time. And forget keeping a focus on anything other than right in front of me. Otherwise my mind simply blanks. Somewhat throws a big wrench into even thinking of learning how to drive.

Fibro (I need to see my doctor to get the "official" diagnosis done, but I'm too ill to travel to see him.
Partially sighted (severe myopia and nystagmus)
hearing impaired
Diabetes (genetic form - Thanks mum!)

I have been completely confined to the house for over 4 years now due to the M.E and it thouroughly dictates what I can and cannot do.

I've been partially sighted from birth and hearing impaired since I was a toddler so neither bother me as I've never known any different.

I am partly paralized on my right side. I walk with a noticable limp, I can't stand for long periods of time either. I can't pickup heavy things with my right hand.I also have learning disabilities, which I think prevents me from getting a job.I can do lots of things I can swim. ride a bike and horse, I love to hike. I do have to be careful cause my knees are shot.I did have my learners permit.

I have migraines

memory problems (doc told me it was some sort of amnesia. they were never able to find the source of the problem. I have always associated it with my migraines).

carpel tunnel syndrome (which extends from my hands all the way to my neck)

But God has used it all for my good. It was hard, but I know I wouldn't be nearly as spiritually mature otherwise. (still a long way from perfect, I admit) ;)

Well, I have multiple chemical sensitivities, am allergic to allmost everything now...what I breathe, touch and eat...stay isolated do to weak lungs and vapors toxic to me...am still walking & doing reasonably well...the isolation is the greatst burden and almost nobody can relate to my infirmities, but one dear dr. I found.
