  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What did you think of that meeting with Trump and Putin?

It tells me everything I needed to know about the Evangelical voting bloc. I had spent the last 35 years watching the Religious Right and I actually thought that they truly believed in Jesus' words or anything from the Bible that they could apply to making their political decisions! I was apparently wrong!

I have spent the majority of my 45 years of life surrounded by evangelicals of the Religious Right. So, you're not telling me something I don't already know, my friend. I know what you're talking about.

Trump knows that Putin is his master and he showed him the deference Putin so richly deserves!

On his royal visit to the Queen in London he certainly treated her in an insulting way. So insulting in fact that one is left wondering if he is stupid or was it deliberate.

That's always the question with him.

And as usually, whenever there's a thread where someone is criticizing Trump, there is a faithful Trump supporters who will always attempt to deflect back to Obama. It is so predictable.
If something was fine for Obama it should be fine for Trump.

I think it was deliberate because he didn't want the Queen, a woman, to show him up.

He stood next to the Russian President and said he took his word over the US intelligence agencies. He’s a traitor.
Wrong. If President Trump is a traitor so was Obama since Obama promised more flexibility to Russia and told U.S. cyberforces to stop looking into Russian hacking after he merely told Putin to cut it out. Also, I remember when Democrats were calling Republicans traitors for not supporting the president.

So true, everybody is pretty burnt out on all of the sniveling regarding Trump.

If it's not one thing we know it will be something else they are totally upset about. And then to scare the ones that don't know better they will tell them because of Trump it is now the end of the world as we know it.

My message to them -- relax be happy now, go find and pet a goat.

Goat might listen to you?

People ought not worship Trump. His previous Secretary of State called him a moron. There is quite a lot of evidence to support that statement. Trump is tricky, a deceiver of the people.

And as usual, Democrats fail to see their own hypocrisy. It's OK when their guy does it. Where was all the outrage at Obama then from the Democrats? AWOL.

I'm a liberal and I never deflected to Bush whenever Obama was being criticized for something he did. I never deflected to Bush whenever Obama did something I didn't like. In fact, I never had to criticize Obama for his family life or question his character. Obama was married to only one woman and had 2 daughters with his one wife. He's been married for 25 years to the same woman. He never had three wives or married his former mistress or had fathered five children with three different women or had an affair with a porn star or bragged about groping women or bragged about watching teenage girls getting undressed or joked about dating his daughter if she wasn't his daughter.

However, whenever these immoral characteristics are mentioned about Donald Trump, the immediate response from his most faithful and devout evangelical Christian supporter is to deflect back to Bill Clinton and his wife or to suddenly insist that we shouldn't judge Trump. I think it's very ironic just how lenient and tolerant these Christians have become concerning immoral and sinful behavior since they politically support Trump. I don't remember evangelical Christians ever being so lenient and tolerant of Bill Clinton's immoral behavior and sexual scandals when he was still the president.

It should be clear by now that neither of these men is in the other's back pocket. There is a tremendous amount of respect between them, but it of the kind that one has for someone who could be a formidable adversary. They are guarded and careful. I think there's a natural warmth of sorts between them, but both are highly disciplined and know to keep it in proper check so as not to make a mistake in strategy. It all makes for tension, but because both their interests are to correct misunderstandings and cooperate for the benefit of everyone, it is mostly a positive, creative tension. But the idea of collusion is absurd, especially considering the actions of the DNC with its server and the congressional Democrats with theirs, and the Clintons both before and after their campaign.

Whataboutwhataboutwhatabout......

Oh, and by the way....you may not have noticed, but it is not only prominent Democrats that have condemned Trump’s capitulation....I suggest you read the comments of Ryan, McConnell, McCain, etc, etc.....

Yes, it’s just “absurd” isn’t it, that all of your security, intelligence, military and congressional investigations have concluded unequivocally that Putin and his goons attacked your elections...!?

I made zero allusion to what Russia may or may not have done. My comment was directed toward the purported collusion between Trump and Russia.

I think the Left will find something every blessed week to be outraged over. Last week it was the separated children. That has been taken off the table, so now, RUSSIA!! again. We can look forward to this all the way through the mid-terms and then all the way through 2020.

They have no idea that their outrage has long ago turned tired and tone deaf.
Quite so. They play at being outraged for about five days until that particular issue is replaced by the next one that is supposed to be so critically important that life on Earth will be over if it is not solved immediately. Notice how "Abolish ICE" is already old news?? And then there was Stormy Daniels. Anyone remember her? And before there was the outrage because Trump spoke sternly to Kim (unlike the outrage going on now because Trump took the opposite approach when dealing with Putin). And so the game goes.

Except when Republicans whine about Deep State, Gun Control and everything else while Trump is Blaming Americans for Bad Relations with Russia LOL.

Don’t act as if the Right doesn’t do the same sort of things.
