What did Adam look like?

I am gettting very frustrated with people who put their brain in their back pocket and just parrot things they have been told with out thinking...

Adam and Eve... real people?
Jonah really swallowed by a fish?
Noah and the world wide flood?
Thousands slain with the jawbone of an ass?
Sun stopped in the sky for several hours?
Wrestling with angels?
Pillars of salt?
Angel of death?
Hell?

It is no wonder people are either refusing to believe in God or turning their brains off... if this is what we need to accept as literal reality in order to be Christians... count me out.

I am so tired of hearing "I don't know how it is possible but it's in The Bible so I believe it."

So to the OP... was he created a baby, young man (16) adult (30) ... did he have a beard? navel? immune system? muscles? could he speak? what was the focal distance for his brand new eyes? could he walk immediately like a calf or colt or did he need to learn how to walk? dark or light skin? long hair or short?

If you believe he was a real person, aren't these kinda problematic?
Well, if God says it's true, than it must be true! Whats with all of the faithless people these days? (not necessarily you KCDAD). All I know is that I have faith in our Lord and I know that He wont lie to me. So, I believe that there was an Adam and Eve, and a flood, etc. It may be hard to understand that all these things happened even with evidence, but just because you didn't see it, doesn't mean that it didn't happen.

Think of all the people living in Biblical times, don't you think that they would be awed about all of our technology like: computers, cellphones, cars, planes, guns, even our cities (New York, Chicago, Las Angeles).

There is a particular verse about believing in God and telling us that we should just belive no matter what. If God is the truth, don't hesitate, just believe. It's that simple. I just forgot the verse...does anybody know? Please answer me back if you know.

Believe God, yes... believe a collection of some man made books and not others? I don't think so. We must be decerning as to what we choose to believe.

I have come to believe that there are a number of things in the Bible that are embellishments and a number of other things that are myths. However, there are also a number things in the Bible that are logically inescapably true. For instance, the book of Daniel was written in 602 B.C. yet he recorded the Persians coming to be a world power, then Alexander the Great (Greece) to be the following world power, then finally the Romans being the last power, during whose reign the everlasting kingdom (church) would be established. (Acts 2 day of Pentecost )

?

Well Jesus was a real person and He spoke of quite a number of these people and events, so I expect that He thought they were real.

I hear people talking about Hercules, Tarzan and Bart Simpson, but that doesn't make them real... except in the sense that they are real cultural icons.

Very good, but there were eyewitnesses to His existance. They wrote within a few years of His life among men.

Since Adam was not an historical person but part of a mythic narrative, then one can envision him as one wishes - like most people envision Jesus as being a very white Caucasian blue-eyed auburn haired movie star-looking kind of guy.

The first humans, or Homo sapiens, were black-skinned and evolved in east Africa. The phenotype of white or yellow skin tones evolved at later dates after migration to other climes. As to size and shape, the first humans were probably smallish and slender by present U.S. standards.

I think he was referring to Adam, not Jesus. ;)
Exactly... Jesus referred to Noah, Jonah, Adam, David and Lazarus... just as you might refer to George Washington, Barry Bonds, Tom Hanks, Fred Flintstone and Superman.

For this to be considered scientific there needs to be an observer, who was that who observed this evolution?

Adam and Eve... real people?
nope, at least not referring to just two literal people one made from the rib of another.

Jonah really swallowed by a fish?
nope, sounds like a fable to me

Noah and the world wide flood?
nope, pure myth perhaps based loosely on some real event but greatly exagerated.

Thousands slain with the jawbone of an ass?
Yes, in a sense, many a war has been started when a ruler worked his jaw ;)

Sun stopped in the sky for several hours?
certianly not, I would have to think that if the Earth stopped rotating there would be some rather serious side effects ;) of course the authors did not know the Earth was rotating and thought the stars, moon, sun revolved around the planet.

Wrestling with angels?
metaphorically in ones mind wrestling with the desires to do right and or wrong

Pillars of salt?
:D sure, but from people, seems like quite a strech.

Angel of death?
nope, not in the sense that most would think

Hell?
nope, again not in the sense that most would think.

I find it amazing what some people will say they believe when they have a hell threat hanging over them ;)
Loved this!!

I believe that Jesus is real, faith that he is real as their is proof (Jesus not Adam :p ).
However you are right, people do portray Jesus as white, blue eyes and not bad looking, when infact he was Jewish, so he would be dark haired and dark eyed (there are many good looking Jews around) but if one reads the Bible-Im not good at quoting versus, however somewhere there is a part that describes Jesus as being very Ugly looking, very Unattractive, so I wonder why we can't portray him as what he would look like instead of how we do
(may as well change all my photo's to Cindy Crawford so I look much better;) )

I'm pretty sure I know what religion is all about, but you have a really screwy view of what constitutes science.

Religion is about believing myth to be literelly and historically true. That is why there are so many religions - one cannont scientifically disprove a myth.

OTOH, science is analogous to our legal system. I.e., indirect evidence is actually the best evidence in many cases, as eye witness accounts are notoriously unreliable. If eye witness were required for murder convictions and indirect or historical evidence was considered unscientific, then the murder conviction rate would drop about 90 per cent.

E.g., your DNA or fingerprints found at the scene of a murder - on the murder weapon, let's say - or your DNA from skin found under the fingernails of the victim will be good enough to convict you. No eyewitness is necessary.

One hundred million fossils found all over the world in a particular order, 99 per cent of which are species no human has ever seen (and they are not sorted by size, like they were climbing mountains to escape Noah's flood) are pretty good indication evolution is a fact - that plus several other lines of evidence you can google if you are ignorant of them.

The scientific jury is in. Evolution is judged true beyond a reasonable doubt. A magical man in the sky popping fully developed animals and humans into existence out of nothing - that didn't make the cut for scientific theories to be considered because it is not scientific - it is myth.

Have a nice day.

Because no one would go to the movies to see them if He looked like you or me.:)
