I think this method of naming churches depends where in the world you live. In the USA, it seems commonplace to call a church "First", "Second." etc. Here in the UK, I haven't heard of such a naming system.
Are they mostly named after Saints, I assume? Or Calvary etc

I grew up a member of 1st. St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ellice Township (Seebach's Hill). To avoid confusion, an other parish that began as a satellite congregation of the original St. John's, almost 200 years ago to this day bears the name Second St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ellice Township (Wartburg). Makes sense; would have made even more sense if they used another saint as their nominal saint... any one of the Apostles, Early Church Fathers, the Blessed Virgin, Laurentz the Deacon, Augustine......................................................................

But no, it had to be good, old St. John. LOL Bless him.

More common with no Saint or Biblical Term in it's name; like 1st etc. Baptist; 1st usually being the oldest.
I’m pretty sure there’s a St. John Reformed Church in my town.

Catholic, Anglican, Episcopalian, Orthodox, and Lutheran and some Methodist churches are commonly named for saints….I’ve never seen a Baptist or evangelical one.

I don’t know about Presbyterian.

{Presbyterians will often name their congregations after Saints, but their favorite is the patron of Scotland "St. Andrew's. "Knox Presbyterian" is not uncommon either.
