• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

who and how are they making any money?

The claim: Hospitals get paid more if patients are listed as COVID-19, and on ventilators

"If it's a straightforward, garden-variety pneumonia that a person is admitted to the hospital for – if they're Medicare – typically, the diagnosis-related group lump sum payment would be $5,000. But if it's COVID-19 pneumonia, then it's $13,000, and if that COVID-19 pneumonia patient ends up on a ventilator, it goes up to $39,000."
Fact check: Medicare pays hospitals more money for COVID-19 patients

But why do you choose to believe they are lies rather than the truth and that the whole world have their heads together to tell the same lie?

From a Christian perspective, this is the perfect situation for the long predicted one world government system to take effect. What most of the worldwide populace has experienced is unified government control over them.

Well, here's the thing... If patients are Covid positive, and they are healthy, we generally send them home to quarantine at home. Even though we have a brand new hospital with 8 floors, we don't have unlimited space, and we serve several nearby cities. We need that space to take care of folks.

The folks who need to stay in the hospital but are covid positive are kept in the ICU. It has become our covid floor. I would say generally that 1/3rd of our ICU patients (as of the last time I was at work) are people under the age of 60. Only a couple of those are under the age of 40.

The rest are all older folks, and they are people who need to be watched. Make no mistake; this disease kills a lot of old folks. I see it all the time...

I guess one could argue that they were already on death's door, but these people would have had years or even decades to their life had it not been cut short by how covid wreaked havoc on them.

At least, that's how things have seemed to me. I've gained a lot of respect for the nurses I work with, though. I'll tell you that much.

Statistics as per the figures that are being reported tell us that after a year 99.8% of people have not died of covid 19 and that is a huge rate of survival perhaps higher than the chance of an indy 500 driver surviving a race even or a skydiver surviving one jump. The figures I gave likely comprise of a majority of people that are at high risk of death from covid so for the average person not too old or at risk the survival rate could be over 99.9% after a year and yet we have people fearmongering and shutting down everything and hiding behind masks and everything else there is. I bet a lot of people would put $1,000 on a bet that has a 99.9% chance of winning perhaps most of them yet we have the public acting like the chance of death from Covid is some insanely high number perhaps 25% the way people are acting today.

I think if something like Covid can be distorted and exploited, it will be. Just like the Iraq has a massive stockpile of weapons of mass destruction hoax, which pretty much everyone these days agrees was an actual hoax. I just wonder what all the facts will be looking back ten to twenty years from now.

That's what I was asking. Are they being put in ICU because they really need to be, or is it more of a precautionary measure?

Also I don't get how someone can be at death's door, but yet still have years or even decades of life left in them.

So with over 450 000 deaths recorded already across the US. This virus is clearly not your average yearly flu. The virus they call Covid-19 is a lethal virus and there should be no debate about this.

I am incredulous that this site allows the spreading of a concept that sickness and COVID infection specifically, is a result of someone's sin. Those who have died from this infection are NOT a cohort who have sinned, just as those who have remained uninfected are not the pure of heart.

Stick to science and stop pointing the finger at people saying if you get infected you must be a sinful person. You are spreading misinformation - as if there wasn't enough of it already.

Also I don't get how someone can be at death's door, but yet still have years or even decades of life left in them.

Hmmm... I can't answer that with 100% certainty because I'm a dietitian tech. I will say that everyone in the ICU is there because they need medical treatment, but not all of them are actively dying from covid; only some of them are on comfort care.

We aren't wasting space in our hospital with people who have covid, though. Like I said, we send those ones home. We only care for covid positive folks who are at risk and need to be watched. Maybe they just had a stroke, or maybe they needed an emergency surgery, or maybe they have preexisting conditions that put them in a dangerous position.

As for the death's door thing, you have to remember that hospitals are kept ULTRA clean to prevent folks from getting complications while they recover. Moreover, the ICU and CCU floors are kepter cleaner than THAT. They are clean enough for on the spot surgeries. I actually found that out after walking in on someone post open heart surgery. That was something.

Anyways! Back on track... Everyone in the hospital who is old is at the hospital at the worst point in their lives for all intents and purposes. We try to give them a sterile environment for them to bounce back and recover. It works, too. We let them rest up and eventually send em out.

The ones with covid, though... It strikes very suddenly. They will be fine one day, then I come in the next and they've passed on. They were in a fragile state before then, but I've seen plenty of folks in their same age range without covid bounce back.

Then again, a lot of people I've worked with have gotten covid. A lot of them recovered just fine, while others have perminant (seemingly, so far at least) damage. One guy I work with is a young guy in his early 20s who never had lung issues in his life. Now he has severe asthma and has to use an inhaler. Sucks for him cause he used to enjoy playing sports.

Are we loving our neighbor if we aren’t wearing a mask?
Though I did go into 7-Eleven today even though I was exposed to Covid by a member of my household, so that was not very loving of me.

People don't take it seriously unless it happens to them or people they know
. It's easy for them to deny it when no one they know got it or the people they know who did get it didn't have to much difficulty getting over it .

My sister and nephews joked about it till they got it. Now they take it serious because they are still getting over it .
My neighbor was one of those , it's not that serious. His wife passed two weeks ago and he passed yesterday. Him and his wife weren't on death's door. It effects everyone differently and you don't know how your body going to react to it.

I'm not good at math. What percentage is 26 million out of 7.8 billion?
