Yes and some people believe but disregard the guidance of the Holy Spirit out of a desire to live a sinful life. So you are still basically saying that obedience to God’s commandments are necessary for salvation because they must adhere to the guidance of the Holy Spirit to instruct them. Everyone has the ability to either adhere to the Holy Spirit or not. The result is choosing to refrain from sin or indulge in sin. So your still saying that obedience is necessary for salvation but just in a different way.

Revelation 14:12
"Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus."

Another question is:

What commandments is John talking about?

*What commandments is John talking about?
Ah I get it. You're trying to close this thread. No problem. I can chat there too.

But to answer your question, I can find nothing anywhere John is talking about the famous 10 which you imply. JN 15:10 talks about 2 sets of commandments. Jesus says He gives a new commandment in JN 13:34. This is one of His commandments. It isn't one of His Father's commandments.

The Sermon on the Mount makes it clear Jesus isn't teaching the law. The fact is He either changed the law and taught something different.

So you need much more than just a quote from Revelation to make you point the law is being talked about. There's nothing in the text nor context supporting the law is what John has in mind.

We read this is the commandment of God -

1 JN 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

Nothing here about the commandments of Jesus. The law is being promoted with text insinuating we have a continued covenant at least similar to the one given to Israel in the desert. This is contrary to the words of Jesus Christ the Righteous in 3 Gospels and the prophecy of Jeremiah.

Keeping the two most important commandments is keeping all of the commandments because all of the commandments are based on the two most important commandments. I’m referring to the commandments of God not the mosaic law.

Why are you constantly trying to separate Him from His Judaism?

You're trying to get me to say we're obligated to the law.

Your reference is to what is called the law of Moses. I didn't say it wasn't the law of God. Moses didn't make up any laws. The discussion Jesus was having with the Pharisees doesn't make those two laws the commandments of Jesus.

It was written on stone and now written on our hearts...He now being the mediator of the covenant. As I have said before you really need to read Jeremiah again...

I've already posted one of them - JN 13:34. You say it isn't. That would be calling Jesus or John a liar. I believe the text to be inspired.

No I’m simply saying that Jesus said all the commandments and prophecies are based on the two most important commandments. Keeping the two most important commandments is keeping all the commandments. You can’t keep the two most important commandments without keeping all the commandments.

I'm not. You're issuing a call to Judaism which isn't Christianity. So how can you be a Christian and promote Judaism? You're posting in a forum you agreed not to when agreeing to the terms of service.

Just because we are not justified (made right with God) by obedience to God’s commandments does not mean that we do not need to obey His commandments. We are justified by faith but just because a person is made right with God doesn’t mean they can’t be made wrong with Him afterwards for disobedience.

So what you have is keeping the law for salvation. You're trying to get me to say Christians are to keep the law. That is incorrect.

Why were the people condemned in Matthew 7:21-23?

You need to understand the difference between being justified (made right with God) and abiding in Christ (obeying His commandments).

You can't keep two opposing sets of laws. A divided house will be destroyed. I was confused for years by the errant mixed stuff from the bully pulpit that tries to preserve the religious system. Most of the so called pro grace churches preach grace and demand an amended version of the law be kept.

So if you want to keep or say you keep the law, have at it. If you do any of the law you have to do all the law. Gal 5
