CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

One song I really like is by Martina McBride. She's a country singer, and a christian and occasionally puts christian songs onto her albums. Her last album had a song called "Reluctant Daughter".
That song would have been what started me back on track with seeking the Lord when I bought the album mid last year. Always a good thing, so that's definitely a fav. song.

i just got the new hillsong united cd, coz my mum just got back from Colour Womens Coneference...i think its great...love oneway and soldier and more than life...i like them all!!! also like normal hillsong and planetshakers...
my church does hillsong and united...n they r hoping to do planet shakers soon too...we also have a couple of people who write their own songs!

I hear that Good Charlotte are Christian, or at least the lead singer and his bro. Is this true does anyone know? I like them heaps and I don;t want to offend God by listening to some heathen band.

I have no idea if Good Charlotte are christian, but their CD isn't coming off my CD shelf if they're aren't. I don't think there's anything wrong with secular music, so long as it doesn't go against God.

I just checked the CD booklet. Both the lead singer and his brother thank the Lord. The others don't. That doesn't necessarily mean they are christian, but short of sitting down and talking to them we have to take them at their word, and their work. I haven't picked up anything unchristian on The Young and the Hopeless.
I'd give these guys the benefit of the doubt myself. If you're worried, pray about it. In the past God has let me know when I have CDs I need to get rid of. Just last week I threw out about $200 worth of CD's. It took me about half an hour to work up to it, but I got there.

What CD's did you throw out? I mean, I agree that GC don't go against God, and they still ROCK ON but if they are Christian that makes them a lot cooler than I thought that's all!!

My entire Melissa Etheridge collection. 7 Cd's and one concert DVD in all. I'm a massive music buff so I wasn't enthusiastic at all. I also had to get rid of various books in the same purge so it was a double whammy.
Well worth it I'm sure, but not easy.

I threw out all my non christian cds after i became a christian cos i thought they were boring and there was no point to them anymore. dint think to much about it just did it.

I feel the same way about most christian music. The only Christian music I listen to is praise and worship and I won't listen to that in the background. I feel disrespectful when I do that. It only goes on when I am doing something that leaves some of my mind to sing along. Yet, I need my background music which means I have to keep my brilliant secular stuff.

I threw out Jewel and Alanis Morrisette. I wasn't too happy about it. Yes I did think about doing it, and it hurt badly to throw away this stuff. Probably because I am very thrifty and can't stand wasting anything.
I haven't had to throw away any books yet, just magazines (not pornography or anything) just magazines that had articles that were a bit off (like Cleo and Cosmo)
