I feel the same way about most christian music. The only Christian music I listen to is praise and worship and I won't listen to that in the background. I feel disrespectful when I do that. It only goes on when I am doing something that leaves some of my mind to sing along. Yet, I need my background music which means I have to keep my brilliant secular stuff.

Each to their own.
Yeh when i first started listening to christian music i wouldnt have it on in the background either i can understand that.

The only way i would listen to secular stuff now is in the background. But i tend not to have worship in the background now but more stuff like rebecca st.james. I dont know what its like in aus but the secular industry is not very good in the UK. Most of it tends to be about sex, depression, anger or just tacky.

I like evanescense but dunno whether they christian or not. but its not blatantly christian.

at least with christian stuff i know that it will be something that will focus me on God. And praise and worship cd's are helpful for worship time alone with God. Its just cool i have time alone with God on the bus, just put a worship cd in my personal cd player and get lost in worship. I think because my time is so chaotic i dont have time for secular music or tv.

I really love Third Day...Those songs really tug on my heartstrings (not to be cliched), and its easy to feel worshipful while singing along.

There is also a song that I've only recently become acquainted with (I won't say that its new since it sometimes takes a while for me to hear a 'new' song:)). "Be Still For the Presence of the Lord." I don't know who sings it, who wrote it, or if some praise band is responsible for it, but I think that its a beautiful song of worship...and of quiet times in our lives. It touches me because I am not at a quiet time in my life--I'm about to get married, and my life is very very busy. I need constant reminders to 'be still'.

Just my two cents:)

Wow, how exciting. When are you getting married. I got married 3 days after my 25th birthday. So we are coming up to being married for 3 years now.

"Be Still for the Presence of the Lord" isn't a recent song. Is this it, harrietvane?

BE STILL, for the presence of the Lord, the Holy One is here;

Come bow before Him now with reverence and fear.

In Him no sin is found, we stand on holy ground;

Be still, for the presence of the Lord, the Holy One is here.

Be still, for the glory of the Lord is shining all around;

He burns with holy fire, with splendour He is crowned.

How awesome is the sight, our radiant King of light!

Be still, for the glory of the Lord is shining all around.

Be still, for the power of the Lord is moving in this place;

He comes to cleanse and heal, to minister His grace.

No work too hard for Him, in faith receive from Him;

Be still, for the power of the Lord is moving in this place.

It's by David J. Evans and was written in 1986. Great words.

Who wrote History Maker? Is that DC Talk. If so, I really like that song.

Also, my husband has DC Talk stuff, I like it a little bit, but not heaps. He likes it more than me and likes to play it loud. He puts the bass up and it bounces all around the house lol.
hisotry maker is delerious.

Thanks KristianJ!!! That's the one. It really does have beautiful lyrics. Wow, that is definitely not new either:) I'm always a day late and a dollar short, I guess! Anyways, that's my current favorite.

Oh, and I'm getting married in two months, Mommaneenie:) I'm very excited but things are getting to the crazy stage! I can't wait til its all over and we're married!! Congrats on being married for almost three years! Its nice to hear from someone who got married at the same age that I am getting married. Let me tell you, with my group of friends and acquaintances sometimes I feel like a barely redeemed old maid--pulled back right from the edge:) I'm exaggerating of course! Have a great day!

Wow, really, you feel old getting married at 25. I had people telling me I was too young. Most of my friends I had at the time, (and still see occasionally at church and stuff) told me I was too young, that I hadn't known him long enough (hmmm, we were bf/gf for 6 weeks before getting engaged lol, but when you know, you know) and they said we'd never last. I think if you can get through 3 years, with a newborn in the first year, and living with in-laws, you can get through anything. I was one of the youngest mums in the hospital when I had him, and also still seem to be one of the younger mums at play group and stuff.
