well the church i go to at uni sings at bit of everything apart from that fact it seems to stop at 1999. some of the old hymns are good like amazing grace and send the fire. but some are sooooooooooooooo longa and hard to sing and the language doesnt make any sense. so compared to them kind of hymns which i grew up with i found hillsongs really easy to sing and thats why i liked them. but sumtimes i find it hard cos it can be really quiet all the way through and im just not very quiet. but other times its really good and there is a mix of energetic and quiet stuff.

the church ive been going to while ive been at home is non denominational (planted by abundant life church) so most of the stuff they sing is from abundant life or hillsong. they write their own songs as well but they sound a lot like the ones from abundant life. the worship is always awesome their even when theyve only got a couple of guitars. like wen i was home this time they sang as song called voice of hope iot was just perfect for the situation. (the tune is quite hard at first but i picked it up)

ok now i have to type the words :p
voice of hope
As high as the heavens are above the earth
so high are your ways to mine
ways so perfect they never fail me
I know you are good all the time

and through the storm yet i will praise you
despite it all yet i will sing
through good or bad yet i will worship
for you remain the same king of kings

you are the voice of hope
the anchor of my soul
where there seems to be no way
you make ot possible
you are the prince of peace, admist adversity
my lips will shout for joy
to you the most high

you are the one before time began
there nothing beyond your control
my confidence, my assurance rests in your unchanging love

anyway could talk about this all

*warning maybe of we stick to saying we like hillsongs or we dont and leave at that then it wont deteriorate into another argument :p *

Hi all!

Bev and Mama: I appreciate your input about Pentecostal churches! My husband and I try to keep up with what different denominations are doing and we want to be accountable that we live according to what God teaches in the Bible for right Christian living, and that's not easy in this world! But one of the things I've always heard and it makes sense is that God is not a God of disorder, so when out-of-control behavior starts occuring, you have to wonder which "spirit" is leading the person to behave that way.

Also, have you ever noticed that during Jesus' and the disciples' time on earth, certain things were much more prevalent - like speaking in tongues and demon possession? I see how God works uniquely in different generations. Even in the Old Testament, He showed Himself in different ways and had differents kinds of relationships than the kinds Jesus had when He came and even now with the Holy Spirit. Interesting, huh?

I have noticed those things Wolf. God is a God of complete order. In many denominations today, people seem to be hearing a milk and honey gospel. The preachers preach alot about salvation, but, they don't tell the people what they are saved from. And, that is important. Demon possession is very real! But, the preacher's just seem to skim the surface of it. And, when things get out of control in a church, I start looking behind me.
It's important to know that God IS God. And, He likes complete order in all things.

Never think to put the wireless on Chris! I don't think I'd get the station anyway. Must try!
They have wonderful praise music on on a Sunday on TV....early...

Yeah they've got some nice music at times check out www.fm1032.com.au they tend to play half christian, half non christian songs. I think they are slowly getting more christian songs on there.

I know I'm not much of a station person anymore, and this is really the only station I think of listening to, all the major ones now aren't that good.

But yeah in relating it back to the topic, they tend to sing a bit of ccc, will smith and a variety of other new christian artists which is nice.

I'll check that out. Thanks Chris.
We have a bit of a prob getting good reception here with the wireless. Even the TV goes on the blink at times due to the mobile phone antennae. We've only had that for 2 years too.

Np's

Just out of interest if you have a home entertainment type radio, some of them you can attach to your tv arial. That often makes the signal alot stronger, as we are in a valley and struggle getting reception with just a normal radio arial, but with the tv arial it works quite well, not static at all.

Just a thought.

Not that I sing to it, as there aren't a stack of 'lyrics' as such, but I still haven't found anything to convince me to take Shake a Leg by Adrian Ross out of my car CD player... (http://www.adrianross.com/) - it's unfortunate that the web site seems not to really mention Adrian's Christian beliefs, or anything along those lines - but the sound and style is brilliant...

Peace be with you...

Well...I've tried...and I reckon I got them when they were playing something wlse. I could bring in Bendigo, Shepparton with heaps of static, Swan Hill with a bit of static, but there was a few stations deep inside the [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] & wireless that one would have needed a bionic ear to have heard. But, I'll keep trying because some seem to be very close to another.
I'll try the sound system thing (you know...that one with the thing you play CD's in it) as that's got a radio & I'll see what our local whizz on modern things can do. He's a christian.
The TV aerial seems the way to go!
Thanks for that! you guys!

Not a problem, I just realised though that you are in Victoria.. oops silly me. So you might not get 103.2 unless you have one of those radio's that does long frequencies.
I have been in victoria though, and there are some good christian radio stations over there too.

Anyways this is getting out of the christian songs theme, so this will be my last post.

Cool. What type of style of music is it Wolfily?

Ah, she's very piano-based praise and worship. Gorgeous voice. A lot of artists are working her songs right now. It's hard to pigeonhole her "style". I wouldn't call it folk exactly, but it's more mellow than, say, hmm, can't say at the moment. Having a brain burp. sorry!

Bev, I don't blame you. Naturally, I have more access to American artists like you've got more access to Australian artists.

We sing a mix of old hymns and Hillsong songs at our church.

As for stuff I listen to myself in terms of contemporary Christian music, Paul Coleman Trio is good, so is POD, early MxPx stuff, and a ton of local bands that have existed some point in my teenage years, but I doubt you've heard of them. I still love Keith Green's music, his words are so powerful! Oh, and I got a 1957 recording transferred to CD the other day in a second hand bookstore of Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee playing Christian songs. As I'm learning the blues harp currently, I was as pleased as punch about purchasing a CD by old blues masters that glorifies Jesus!
