A return to Jesus would result in a calming of tension and an understanding between peoples, for God can act to correct and teach either party where it is wrong, but both sides already think that they are following God, and self righteously justify themselves. However, my Bible tells me to not associate with people who call themselves believers and slander others. I think what you are looking at is the purest result of self righteousness, which is, of course, pride and contempt, but with contempt comes shame, and if we all continue to follow pride, there will be much to be ashamed of. It's not hard to bring the churches together, just like it isn't hard to bring a nation together, but it will be under God and from the hand of God and seeking the hand of God, and not just the god they've painted for themselves, the real one. XD

Forgiveness is when your enemy has geniune change of heart and you welcome them and forget their past. Start over, clean slate, no holding of grudges. That's forgiveness.

But if they remain in their evil ways and directly threaten you, then you have every right to defend yourself.

Loving our enemies is also about preaching them the truth. This means, you do not tolerate them in their evil. If you submit / yield to their evil deed (does not attempt to resist), that gives them the wrong message that it's okay to do evil and there are people who will willingly submit to evil (us Christians?)

"Resist the devil and he will flee from you" does not only apply to evil spirits. Resisting the devil also applies to people acting under the will of the devil (acting to steal, kill, and destroy). And resisting in context is not a weak or passive stance but may involve deliberate physical force or even violence.

If you study the Bible in the Strong's Concordance of the Greek text, that's the only place you'll see the proper context of scriptures. Bible scholars also refer to it.

Respectfully, the bible shows the Christ being crucified by those both religious and secular authorities entrusted to dispense justice and not tolerate evil. There on his cross he is seen being crucified and praying for his enemies, "Forgive them Father for they know not what they do". This is the Christ I believe in as the true image of God. This is the way and the Truth that I follow. But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Of course I am, he lies a lot. He's not God and he's not Christ.

I study semantics, sophistry, propaganda, psychological manipulation... And I say it again, Trump's not God and subsequently those who oppose him are not the devil's children. Respectfully, we should agree on that.

It's not ok to kill and steal based on race, I agree. Let's not throw stones too quickly though.

And i brought up God's people, because this is a Christian forum, where majority of us here are God's people, some that do live in the US. The question in the OP was asked, what can we do to stop it? That is my response.

you study semantics yet and you choose words specifically meant to demean your opponents in the worst way possible. Shows your heart.
I’ll say it again. If you oppose Trump (generally,) you go go to your own hurt. That does not mean you have to agree with everything he says or does. I’m talking about this deep spiritual opposition.

True, and we can only hope there are enough.

The police brutality came to mind when I read the OP. When policemen started getting shot, that was a huge sign, but look what happened.
Unless I am mistaken, the police killings dropped dramatically after that because someone had enough sense to take the people seriously. They need to learn a lesson from that and apply it to other things that can bring on trouble, and deal with those things before they get to the level they did..

I'll be ok with being disproved on the stats that the shootings dropped dramatically like I stated, I did look into it, but not extensively. Either way, still, those in charge need to recognize the signs and take action before someone takes their charge away..

Police brutality went on way to long, and too many serious problems like that, left unchecked, then a sudden drop in the economy, or some combo like that, could be all that needs to fall together in order to create a recipe for disaster.

I'm surprised something worse than did happen to get their attention on the police brutality didn't happen... I was honestly expecting a mass execution...something really terrible. :(

Seems people in general will put up with an awful lot, but even that only goes so far. Our Government needs to stop playing the game of letting us be pushed as far as we can for their own benefit.

But all my talk is worthless....without God, even if we manager to hold it together, greed will keep things on the edge.

I guess the issue is whether God thinks it is ok for Mom to whack her baby or not.

Not sure both sides really claim to love Jesus.

Some time before the crucifixion, an angry mob formed around Jesus and attempted to throw Him off a cliff (to kill Him).

But Jesus did something to escape the angry mob and successful defended Himself from being killed.

Jesus does not always yield to anyone trying to kill Him.... If He did, His ministry on Earth would have been cut short which is not a good thing...

Christianity is not a "martyrdom cult". Jesus even gave instruction to His disciples who are doing the pioneering missions work to leave a place if the residents does not welcome them, more so, if they experience persecution or even attacks (Matthew 10:14). Which is obviously a safer choice than to remain in a place that is hostile to them.

Christ's Gospel did not made everyone happy. Christ made a lot of enemies in fact. True Love therefore doesn't always make people feel good. Sometimes, it hurts. Truth sometimes hurt.

Christ's crucifixion is an appointed time and event for Christ by God. It's a one-time event that needed to happen. The message of crucifixion is for the remission of sins on the cross, not to tell us to yield to someone who wishes to take our life even if we are capable of defending ourselves.

Self-defense does not equate to unforgiveness. It only becomes unforgiveness if you start holding grudges against anyone.

True Love, doesn't always make you feel good. Sometimes it hurts, Truth hurts. And Jesus made lots of enemies for that reason.

I don’t want to give the impression that people in a free society are powerless at all. You can’t stop a civil war however through capitulating to lies. Appeasement is never the solution.

As shameless as the MSM is in one snidely ruining people’s reputations based on allegations with zero evidence and corroboration, partisans who accept the idea that people who they disagree with politically ought to be presumed guilty until they are neutralized are shameful excuses for human beings, and we are free to say as much about them.

That is not something that both sides are doing. Those kinds of innuendoes are coming much exclusively from the left.
