  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

However, with God, IMHO, the more questions you ask, the more the answers lead you back to Him.

I'm finding the same thing, just from a slightly different angle. The more questions I ask, the more I realize how much I still don't know (science is fun like that :D ).

"Have you had a baby die from S.I.D.?"
No, but my friend has. I'm not secular because of that though.

"OH! Sorry if I seem prying. You really don't need to answer."
Thanks for rethinking your approach. Secularists have feelings to, ya know. If I did have a child that fell victim to S.I.D.S., I would've been very upset with your questioning.

Mr. Secular, I'm awful sorry if you thought I was trying to be "immature" but I must say I find most of this discourse to be quite a few levels below immaturity, it get's down right childish around here; but to answer your question about my reading books on the big bang nonsense--I respond with this question to you: "WHY WOULD I BOTHER READING SECULAR BOOKS ABOUT ANYTHING THAT CONTRADICTS WHAT GOD SAYS, I'VE GOT THE BOOK, THE ONLY BOOK THAT HAS "ALL" THE ANSWERS"!!!!!

Unfortunately, this is a self-defeating attitude. If are totally unwilling to even look at the evidence for "the other side" of a discussion, then you've effectively painted yourself into a corner.

Or, as rule #7 for the science forums puts it:

"7. You will come in here with the attitude and mindset that you are not always right. Stonewallers, and trolls need not apply (and hence will be happily removed from the board). This includes people on both sides of the debate."

A book with all the answers? Cool!

Does it say if there is a better coffee icecream than Ben and Jerrys "Form Russia With Buzz"?

And how about that darn broken vitimin C gene? Dose it talk about that and how to fix it?

Also should I wait forthe 2004 dodge truck to come out or buy a 2003?

While I agree that the Bible may have some good spiritual answers, it by no means is a science/history/math book and thus id does not have "ALL THE ANSWERS".

Yup, you win. Good one.

To Pete:

Absolutely. Only the foolish think they have all the answers. One who is truly wise can see how stupid he really is.

And to Secular:

I think my answer to Pete pretty much sums up how I'd rank SIDS. I don't blame God for killing little babies. But I do recognize there are things I don't yet understand. 500 years ago, people thought "bad air" caused the bubonic plague.

MY problem is in wanting all the answers RIGHT NOW. LOL, it don't work that way.

Peace,
~VOW
