CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It's God's book, He can tell it however He wants.
To Pastor Bob:
WHY do I have to take "it" to the next step? Why must I "unlearn" all my science to accept God on your terms? I have no contradictions in my belief. I believe in God, the Father Almighty, and in His Son. And there's no problem ANYWHERE in that belief sitting nicely inside my head alongside my belief in dinosaurs.

Yes you can. The Big Bang Theory doesn't talk about biology, AT ALL. Evolution doesn't talk about planets, AT ALL. They are just as different as night and day. You can believe in one, the other, or both.
NOTE: Evolution, by definiton, is a word used to describe change over time. If you are growing older or taller, you are evolving.

I used to believe in Santa Clause. Was it wrong for me to stop believing in him? You should always look forward. You should always find ways to improve your self, and your thinking. Don't stop learning. I'm not saying you should stop believing in God. I'm just saying that everything that you believe isn't perfectly accurate.

How many books have you read on the Big Bang theory? Before you talk against something, you should do research. Does the bible carry details about EVERYTHING, including math? Many Christians believe that the Big Bang theory has brought them closer to God.

Oh, I understand completely what you are saying. And I buy it, too, for I've said many many times, the day I stop learning is the day I die.
But, for all my time here on earth, and for all that I've learned and I continue to learn, NOTHING has ever contradicted my belief in God. I can look at the periodic table of elements and see the ORDER in it, horzontally, vertically, even DIAGONALLY....and I learned about the electron shell configurations...
And sonofagun, the very ORDER and LOGIC of matter on the atomic level simply reinforced my belief in God.
With a belief in Santa Claus, as you grow older and learn more, eventually you start having questions, and the answers don't match up with the information you're being fed.
However, with God, IMHO, the more questions you ask, the more the answers lead you back to Him.
I'm not going for the fairy tale version. I'm going for the order and logic version.
It works for me.
