How did the spinning and the Old Shale turn out? I knit a lace Scarf in Old Shale a few years ago. I love the pattern. I did it in mohair.

Well, I spun the yarn but haven't started the knitting yet. You have prompted me to wash the skein and knit a test swatch this week.

Greetings, I'm new to this board; glad to see a fellowship of knitters, crocheters and needlecrafters. My current project is a crochet shawl which I have spent more time on than any other project by far - probably about 18 months now. It's a triangular shawl done with a size 20 crochet cotton in a quasi fisherman's net look. The net body is now completed and I'm adding a scalloped border around it and I may or may not add a fringe. I've also crocheted 45 granny squares and medallions, each one different, to be sewn on top of the mesh pattern in 15 groups of 3. Lastly, I intend to dye it a blush color. Sometimes, when I've had my fill of the shawl, I take a break from it and work on a knit afghan - that's also been in the works for well over a year. Someday, and I truly hope it's someday soon, I'll have these projects completed so that I can work on something new!

It is good to have you join us here. I am knitting another baby blanket to use up left over yarn. I did have other plans but my mother saw a lovely pattern for a cable jacket and I am not sure if I should try and knit it for her

I always think my crochet is basic also but I find I am able to figure out most patterns...whether I do them or not depends on if I think it is pretty.

Some local churches have classes for the production of such items for sending to Africa and elsewhere. I guess you learn gradually how to do it over and over.

As they say rinse and repeat. I have never been to a church that does that. I am currently looking for a new church tho so I will have to see if any in my area do it.

As they say rinse and repeat. I have never been to a church that does that. I am currently looking for a new church tho so I will have to see if any in my area do it.

If it's already a prayerful, Bible based local church, then such activities can add to the fellowship. (I hope you find somewhere that will be a spiritual home.)

I think I may have found it. It's a bible based church, small congregation, they do bible studies before church and on Wednesday night. I will be going to the one on Wednesday. I caught the tail end of the bible study today and I really liked how it was done. You didn't get preached at and they include you in the studies. Very informal which is so nice. Also I wasn't judged unfit because of my bipolar.

Prayer and Bible study are the elements in which the believer in the Lord Jesus lives and breathes, and if you have found a suitable local place for fellowship, this can be a great blessing.

Well, did the yarn pass the test?

I have just finished a second doll's jumper using a pattern I based on the Fish and Chip Baby jumper. I need to do a couple more, but need to get back to knitting the second of a pair of slippers I've been working on.
